So if we say 5M of those are legit out of the 20M , then 15M x $1976 (average SS monthly benefit),

so ~ $30 Billion / month of fraudulent payments and waste?!!!

No, the question is whether or not the check is cashed.

I keep hearing about this, and I believe its true. I want to know how many of these checks are cashed and if its been stopped.

I'd auto cut everyone off at 105 and then individually verify people at 106. Get the numbers down and it wouldn't be difficult.

After the system is cleaned up, cut that down to 102.

Here's a more accurate number Elon:

In 2024, there were about 101,000 people in the United States who were 100 years or older, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. This is about 0.03% of the U.S. population.

You have our permission to clean house at the SSA if that is what it takes to save our hard earned taxes from being wasted.

Give 'em hell.

Saw redditor's using some mind bending logic on this recently....saying that it was common for 50 yo men to marry 12 yo girls then widows receiving their SS benefits upon death.

Or that the year is 18?? was an epoch for COBOL systems and it reflected 'unknown' for all those people.

I really love to watch the mental gymnastics they do.

Scott Jennings is right. Trump keeps attacking these 80% - 20% topics and the progressives jump on the 20% bandwagon without even thinking.

I promise you Methuselah is not getting a SS check, but his widow is still getting half of his check.

I can only think that these are dependents getting checks and no one cared enough to check validity. So....fraud.

Everyone over 120 is suspect. Either there's a data error (possible; we are human after all) or we have fraud (probable and most likely).

We auditors test based on risk. We've identified a significant risk factor, that being those over age 120 (given that only one person in post-OT times has lived past that age). Investigate those first and we should save a ton of $.

How have the 40 million under 9? Or the fact the total number equals the entire population of the USA?

Sorry, baw. Not even close. Bill of Rights was 1789 with the ratification of the Constitution.

Sorry. At least you were close. The constitution was ratified in 1788. Each state was given 6 months to vote and Delaware was the first to ratify in Dec 1787.

The first congress was seated in March 1789.
The Bill of rights wasn’t written until later in 1789 but it wasn’t ratified until 1791.

quote:

On October 2, 1789, President Washington sent copies of the 12 amendments adopted by Congress to the states. By December 15, 1791, three-fourths of the states had ratified 10 of these, now known as the “Bill of Rights.”

Doesn't matter. If they are in the database (which should be modified when someone dies), even if no $ is changing hands NOW, there's the risk of hackers or insiders getting in, turning on the spigot, and changing info to send $ to a hidden bank account which they control.
