Simply not true.....Red states with the exception of Texas and Georgia are all net recipients of federal money.....4-5 red states foot the entire bill.........California, New York.....mass pay all the bills in the US while middle class republicans in the south only have jobs because of federal spending......most of the south wouldn’t even be electrified without federal spending....

Republicans threaten to secede when our direct rights are violated.

Democrats actually secede... when they are told they aren't allowed to own other human beings.

But if they secede, will the elderly still receive their social security?

The United States is 17 Trillion dollars in debt. California alone is responsible for over 5 trillion of that. So explain to me again how they are footing the bill for the rest of the country?

Yep. Almost seceded in 1832 over the Nullification Crisis. Then seceded in December 1860. Then began the war by firing on Fort Sumter.

Even before the differences and schisms that led to the Civil War, coastal South Carolina, where the bulk of wealth and power resided, was a hotbed of loyalism during the Revolutionary War. It was in the inland upcountry where you found the bulk of anti-British sentiment. There has always been a disdain for centralized American government in South Carolina.

Amen. I read in a book that historically South Carolinians have viewed themselves as S Carolinians first, Americans second.

They were instrumental in keeping the Southern Colonies out from British control for quite a while in the Revolution, and they obviously had a huge role in fighting for their state in the War Between The States. And cheers for pointing out the role that the upstate played in American Independence. The SC militia did a LOT.

I don’t want secession, but screw the top-down rule we’re getting from DC. Something’s gotta give. Go read Thomas Paine again. We’re right back where we started.
