Well that's a little different than:

Are there really a lot of people who like going to church to hear stump speeches from political candidates?

It's always struck me as as an odd phenomenon.

Not directly, but it assumes a stance of personhood in the womb.

Here are just a few examples:

quote:

Jeremiah 1:5

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

quote:

Psalm 139:13

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

quote:

Judges 13:5

You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb. He will take the lead in delivering Israel from the hands of the Philistines.”

quote:

Psalm 22:10

From birth I was cast on you; from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

quote:

Psalm 51:6

Yet you desired faithfulness even in the womb; you taught me wisdom in that secret place.

quote:

Isaiah 49:1

The Servant of the Lord Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name.

Supports slavery too Stacy.
Nice boom.

In the Old Testament it accurately reflects the concept of indentured servanthood for fellow Israelites. For those who are foreigners, yes, there would be slavery. In general, based upon that person being captured during war.

ETA: And the abuse of their Israelite brethren was condemned by God and was one of the reasons the nation of Judah was sent into Babylonian captivity (cf Jeremiah 34:8-22).

In the New Testament it gives a clear picture of slavery under the Roman Empire and how Christians were to live in this cultural/historical context.

Trained by obama and oprah's mentor, Rev. Wright? He's always wrong. So is Stacey.

Hell is hot. Probably especially for those that cite to Holy Scripture to support the killing of babies.

Maybe our holy forefathers and Jesus thought that they didn’t need to add to “thou shalt not kill” to cover babies in the womb because they didn’t foresee what a sick, twisted populace would eventually inhabit God’s Earth. Sad.
