He told his audience "I am not being replaced. The show is just going away".
It's his not so clever way of saying it had nothing to do with his ratings, when it really did. Don't you think once that terrible show is gone, they will replace his time slot with something more appealing and gets better ratings? He is a no talent douchebag.

Um, I think you're forgetting that Colbert’s first ever Late Show was a couple of months after Trump came down the escalator. But yes, he lasted as long as he did because Trump was the focus of his monologues from literally night one.
It's kind of hilarious seeing all the leftists clutch their pearls on social media today, acting as if Johnny Carson was fired. I'm sure most of them weren't even regular viewers of the Late Show.
They just know a prominent voice on their team lost his platform, so they're treating it like a politically-motivated attack. Something they're perfectly fine with happening to their enemies.

Colbert will probably off himself and film it. He is clearly mentally unstable. His whole existence revolves around his hatred of Trump and everyone associated with him. Yet this washed-up comedian helped get Trump reelected. He must be in mental torment at present knowing that Trump got the last laugh.
