Who has claimed property taxes in SG will triple?

Double, triple, what does it matter when you just make up stuff?

If SG forms its own city, I could see taxes dropping.

If SG is able to form its own school system, I could see operating taxes dropping, but some taxes increasing to build new schools.

But that's just my opinion based on what I see and what I know.

Whether its a net increase or a net decrease, I don't care as long as we get good govt., good schools for the children, and we continue to have a safe place to live and work.

I don't have kids in public or private schools, I am not a union boss, I hire union workers who are my friends, and I appreciate the magnet schools but I just don't think average Americans with average IQs have to settle for crap because they have no better alternative.

And no Woodlawn High is not a good alternative, we all saw that on Frontline and when we read the paper about the alleged rape they covered up there at Woodlawn.

I want better for my grandkids, my neighbors and my friends. I want what I had. A good public school in my neighborhood.

Another inaccurate statement on your part. Just give up.

Grow up. The blob in town center is irrelevant to the origins of the SG boundaries.

That has nothing to do with my pointing out your inaccurate statement. You need to at least attempt to post accurate statements or just quit posting.

If you look at the proposed city limits, it's laughable how gerrymandered it is in order to achieve their best-case demographic and socioeconomic breakdown.

That's just how the BR city limits came to be. At one time property owners were deciding whether to opt in, or opt out so the borders are rough around the edges.

The BR city limits conveniently puts a wedge between SBR and unincorporated swaths of NBR.

It's the perfect opportunity for a money grab. The school district is secondary and the proposed boundaries will look nothing like the city's boundaries.

The racial makeup of student age population is vastly different. For example, EBRP as a whole is 70% white, but under 18 is 50/50.

Only because white families have fled to Ascension, and Livingston.

So the SG people still don't have 18,000 signatures in spite of your claim back in May that they already did? You continue to lie about it.....

I have never said they had 18k. Ever. Keep twisting.

Yep. Which is why EBRP as a whole stands to benefit if we can keep young families here.

Anything at this point is conjecture. It's just people's opinions. But how can you establish the infrastructure a city needs (in large parts from scratch) and not increase taxes? It's incredibly naive. Residents would be far better off taking the extra money moving or putting their kids in private schools rather than make Louisiana look so bad in the nation's eye.

Obviously you have no clue how much taxes people in SG already pay. I suggest you study our situation and you'll find we pay a lot of taxes already.

People in SG pay lower taxes than anyone in Baton Rouge, Central, Zachary, Livingston Parish, or Ascension Parish yet have had the most improvement in terms of infrastructure.

then MOVE! All you people do is bitch and make LA look racist. When this upcoming election cycle is over and all that's left to talk about is the pending St George vote/legislation we'll be the laughingstock of the nation.

Do you have a reading problem sir.

How would me relocating help my grand kids, my friends and my neighbors already stuck in EBR???

Its an attitude like yours that create the mess we have.

JMHO, but when good people sit on the sidelines and just bitch and moan because bad schools don't effect them it ruins the city, parish, country or whatever for everyone else.

I chose to join the fight for better schools. I have lived in EBR all my life, and I have a right to my opinions and to effect change sir. It is the American way.

You are using any excuse you can to make tediously irrelevant arguments. The blob in town center isnt noteworthy. You couldn't add 9+2-2, and have made repeatedly innacurate statements on the SG issue.

Mark it down please.

Mark it down that if SG becomes a city, BR taxes will go up.

No, the American way would be for you to run for school board or city council or volunteer in the schools to help out. You're taking the easy way out with this current scheme from bad old days.

My youngest son who lives here is actively shopping for a home in Prairieville.

8 or 9K a year for private schools is not for him.

Me suggesting they turn them in does not equate to saying they had 18k. The very idea behind that article was to turn them in short, and make up the difference with the legally allowed 60day period after verification. Nice try though.

Your credibility is nil. That is why I keep pointing out your stupid statements. I hope others will see just how dumb your statements are and take note.

Tell us again how EBR parish is 70% white. Stupid.
