SG adds MORE government. Not less.

BR has the highest credit rating of any parish or city in the state, btw.

I think the St. George people are very well informed. And, as a bystander in this, I think the people of St. George would have to be stupid not to vote for incorporation. They will be much better off.

I don't care what you think since you have added zero substance to any discussion about taxes in SG, EBR or Baton Rouge.

I'll try and survive this.

Explain how creating another layer of local government 'shrinks' government.

You're now 0 for 5 today.

SG will have more efficient type government like Central and Zachary.

Best credit rating (not saying much)with tax revenues from the current SG area!

That will go bye bye real fast with the implementation of the City of SG!

Taxes may go up in SG, but so will city services that they do not have now!

Less revenue will have to shrink government or this town (BRG) will definitely be referred to as South Detroit!

"Zachery"??? Seriously??? You can't even spell Zachary correctly.

And if you want SG to be like Zachary's expenditures, then you just supported my belief that SG taxes will almost double.

Zachary's expenditures per person are $954/capita. (And this is before you include Zachary increased their school taxes by 75% once they got their new school system approved.)

The SG budget shows a per capita expenditure of $564.

Thanks for supporting my stance......

Why? And if so, why is it funny to you? Do you want the city where LSU is located to not have a good credit rating?

How old are you?

So why all the fuss??? Keep your AAA rating and your mall of la and let the citizens in St George go jump off a cliff as y'all think will happen.

Zachary also has the best school system in the state, a diverse student body, and they have built fantastic facilities over the past decade.

St George should be so lucky to have the opportunity to vote on taxes that support a school district with that kind of record.

Zachary and Central are success stories IMO.

No, I don't think SG will jump off a cliff. But I have friends and relatives who live in SG who are very much opposed to the idea of having their taxes increased substantially. That's a valid concern for them.

And once the MoL was removed from SG's greedy hands (and there will be other annexations before a vote is held), BR will be just fine with its finances.

St George is NOT Zachary. Zachary has been an incorporated municipality for about 100 years. It has its own identity.

SG is an amalgamation of neighborhoods encompassing an area larger than Baton Rouge stretching from the Miss River on the southwest to the Amite River on the northeast.

So BR removed the mall from SG and other annexations will soon happen, but you want to call St George greedy.

People in SG pay lower taxes than anyone in Baton Rouge, Central, Zachary, Livingston Parish, or Ascension Parish yet have had the most improvement in terms of infrastructure.

I would say that they are second to Baton Rouge in terms of improvements, but they are in last place as far as school systems is concerned.

I'm not sure what your point is about being a city with a collection of neighborhoods. Baton Rouge is a collection of neighborhoods that at one point barely stretched behind what is present day downtown. Things changed.

Village St George has been a census tract with their own fire district for a very long time. In all likelihood, next year they will be their own city with the freedom and autonomy to vote for their own taxes and priorities. They should be so lucky to find themselves in a situation where they can vote for taxes to support schools as decent as Central or Zachary.

Don't forget greedy Livingston Parish! How dare they build Juban Crossing to hurt MOLA! They keep letting young white families move there, too!

Then you're stupid if you think SG has an identity.

You're saying people who live north of Florida Blvd near the Amite River identify with the people who live in the Gardere area or along Highland Road south of Staring Lane?

You're just not a very able critical thinker.
