Sure. What if we are in wave 2?
This will be interesting
Point being, to stop the economy this better be the real deal. We can all agree on that.

I was off with the math. It's probably not even .3%

If 60 million people were confirmed positive for H1N1 at least 20% of the people had to be tested at some point
Holy shite why the frick do you need a link for that?
Dude

Also I don’t remember hospitals in various areas getting overloaded.
It killed a shite ton of people. Why weren’t they overloaded?
Any stats on admissions for H1N1?

Because, for the billionth time:
All those swine flu stats are estimates. The actual number of worldwide confirmed swine flu deaths was just over 18,000.
It's kinda like how there are clearly many more people who have died from and gotten COVID than have been tested positive for it.
That being said, in those modeled estimates, the MOST daily deaths from swine flu reached was around 2000. We have already gotten to 3000 for COVID in 1/3 of the time it took swine flu to peak.
They arent comparable, this is many times worse. Continuing this fable that we shouldnt be taking these actions because of swine flu is moronic

Which is likely more than were "tested" in 2009. Most people were like our family, didn't hear or know much about it til it was over.

Absolutely. And I don't think you'd see the measures in place and the huge stimulus package if it wasn't the real deal.

Why didn’t we test more for H1N1?
If we did, would that have changeD much?

You're right man, the whole healthcare complex is in on this hoax.
This board used to be awesome. This virus has exposed a lot of idiots.

So 33M. Half H1N1?

And that's with pretty drastic distancing measures put in place
And countries like China and Iran likely not being anywhere near honest with their numbers
Italy had over 900 deaths alone in a single day

Beat it if you can’t handle devil’s advocate. Don’t give a shite about you online.

Not sure how you're coming up with those numbers

You know, Im not sure. I think part of it is there wasnt a worldwide emphasis on it. So other countries maybe werent getting support from WHO like they are now.
I guess the most obvious answer is, it just wasnt as bad as COVID, so the need for it didnt present itself like it is now.
Maybe since it had the "flu" name, it was downplayed too much, kinda like how this virus was at the beginning downplayed as "another flu"
But yea, you gotta think that any testing would help to prevent transmission if people know they have something that is contagious.

Why didn’t we test more for H1N1?
Because they werent filling hospital icus. There was treatment because it was a form of influenza, thus it was not the emergency that we have on our hands today. It's really not that fkn complicated.
I agree with questioning shutting down the country, but at least come up with an argument that has a semblance of intelligence in it. Theres plenty on this board that can manage that, at least copy what they are saying.

Too much adipose affects the math

I think we've crossed the point of it being devil's advocate at this point
Trying to compare this to H1N1 is just foolish at this point

Agreed. I think this is a bad deal but I will be interested in all the data 24 months from now.
Could be very interesting.

You realize basically every hospital in New Orleans is full and they are desperately setting up alternate sites with the national guard? This has not happened with other diseases, you idiots.
And in Savannah nurses and support staff are getting furloughed because everything’s been suspended but emergencies and Corona.
