Something needs to be done.

Property taxes are out of control in Texas. The school boards, hand in glove with the tax assessors, artificially inflate people’s home values based on hypothetical numbers and charge sky high taxes. To the point where people have to pay over $1,000 per mo the just to hold their own property.

High schools look more like large junior colleges these days and the administrative bloat in these schools are crazy high.

John and Jane Doe taxpayer can only afford so much. This is a significant affordable housing issue that can be solved by less government.

Property Tax NEEDS TO GO. Renters send their children to school for free. Property owners who have no school age children foot the bill. People can (and have) lost their homes with this and it needs to stop.

This makes no sense. Are you under the impression that landlords do not factor in the costs of property taxes into the rents they charge? Of course they do. The tenants don’t pay it directly, but they absolutely pay it indirectly. It’s insane to believe they don’t.

There is so little investment these days in the teaching side of education and so much into the administration.

You are exactly right. These school board nutjobs are making more than a POTUS.

Bottom up funding and active PTA's, though more security will be needed initially to handle the more savage amongst us.

But if public schools aren’t a viable alternative, then Dallas Christian HS is going to cost a hell of a lot more in the future.

Prove it.

Yeah idk why Abbott is so set on blowing up TX public schools. It's a shame

Got a bunch of donations from private school folks. It is why eh threw such a bitch fit a year ago when his voucher program failed. It passed this year but it isnt even a true voucher program for all.

People generally like property values to rise, so they can sell their homes for more than they bought them for.

Problem is the values have risen by an insane amount the last 5 years. The house I bought in 2019 for $320K is now values at over $500K. Tax rates are generally 2.5-3.5% of that a year.

Get rid of the teacher's unions and let teachers be evaluated on how good of a job they do.

Don't make it impossible to fire bad teachers.

This is a direct result of Democrat policies.

Teacher Unions aren't really a thing in Texas.

The reason bad teachers don't get fired is it's impossible to find teachers these days. My wife has taught over 15 years. The first half of her career at title 1 schools (low income). Back then it was nearly impossible to get into the good schools with good parents. She tried for years and different districts. She was able to about 7 years ago (lucked out because a new school opened in our neighborhood and had an in), but these days it is easy as shite to get into a good school because they're just taking bodies in many cases.

I have never understood the Republican hatred of public schools. I get that they’re run by liberals, but that is something that you can fight. What are we going to do? What if Muslim schools start opening up and indoctrinating kids into hating America and God and Israel?

So a $450,000 home (which is the average in the area) you pay $9,410.30 a year / or $784.00 monthly.

The average annual tuition for elementary-level private schools in Texas is about $13,323 for the 2025-26 school year.

So you’re off by 50%. Would need an average home value of $675k to cover private school.

Reading, Writing, Arithmetic, and Social Studies

Fixed that up for you if we are going old school

Perhaps we can connect kids grades/test scores to their parents snap/welfare checks. I remember reading a good idea on here once a while back where fed money should only be connected to how many students come out ready/qualified for military service. Outside of that education is a local/state issue.

Private schools need to be held accountable for what they are producing too though, especially if they get tax money. Otherwise there's going to be a bunch of "Prime Preps".
