I've seen estimates of 20m illegal aliens here. 10m from the last 4 years. If we deported all of them we would have zero unemployment, our health care premiums would plummet, and we'd have a balanced budget.
No we wouldn't.

The issue is always going to be birthrates. The immigration reform of the 1960's was created in direct response to the decreasing birthrate of White Americans, which peaked in 1957 if I recall correctly. The birth rates of every American ethnic group is below replacement levels and it is quite obvious that politicians don't care. Even legislation that aims to try to improve that, such as a piece of legislation offered by Romney and Booker in 2019, gets no traction.

The Dallas Fed released a study about the labor mkt in TX. Given the immigration crackdown. Spoiler alert it's chaotic.

Will existing employees benefit?
As recent immigrants become less able to work, whether due to loss of work permits or fear of deportation, Texas firms are taking measures to address the impact. Chief among them is increasing work hours for existing employees (Chart 4). Other responses are planned wage and benefit increases and more hiring of U.S.-born workers, naturalized citizens or legal permanent residents.
At some level illegals are taking jobs and suppressing wages. They gotta go back.

However, most of us object to the indiscriminate detention o f people who have lived here peacefully and actually have contributed positively to their community.
They are breaking the law. You can’t make that distinction. If they want to come back they can apply to come back in legally.
