i don't know if i'm cooler than you but...someone prank calls 911 and says there's a guy waving a gun around and beating the shite out of his wife at 123 fake street (i hope someone gets that reference). police/swat respond. random guy sitting at home who's not beating his wife or waving a gun around gets his door kicked in and the shite scared out of him, possibly blasted
it started with gamers mad some anonymous online player beat them at call of duty or mario kart. it has expanded since, sometimes for political issues

DuckDuckGo or google will eliminate your problems. Swating is somone calling the police or authorities and saying there is an issue (intruder, murderer, bomb threat, etc) at such and such residence. So if done in the middle of the night the police will swat your house thinking something nefarious is happening. The problem with this is that a lot of people will greet the police with a weapon. Bad things can happen and have.

Which is why any of these raids whether it's swatting or just typical stupid no knock grades are painfully dumb.
Half the time not only are they busting into the home of people who might not even be doing anything but they do it at two or three in the morning. And then when things go to shite they say well we announce we were police! Which has to be one of the most fricking retarded things the police ever say
I don't know about you but if you break into my house at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning screaming police for the first 5 Seconds by the time I'm coherent enough you've already stopped screaming and all I know is there's assholes breaking into my house
It's completely asinine. Heck. In Kentucky recently they conducted a middle of the night raid and they had the wrong fricking house. So some perfectly law-abiding dude here's people breaking into his home and pops up with a gun and they kill him! And why were they conducting a raid? Because the suspect had stolen the weed eater of somebody important.! That's next level retarded

This is the real problem here. It's ridiculous. Hopefully whoever is doing this shite gets put in jail but there is also a real civil rights conversation to be had here. 1 anonymous tip shouldn't get you inside someone's home.

That's a great way to get a cop killed and, a great way to get an innocent American killed.
Not to mention. If your tip blows arse so bad that you are raiding a home for no reason, then how could also be remotely certain you aren't endangering small children? Just such a thing happened about 10 years ago. Raid on a home where the target wasn't even inside. But, they DID throw in flash bang grenades one of which landed in a crib and went off 2 inches from a baby's face.
If you're fricking entering a home full bore like that, IN AMERICA, you better fricking KNOW where you're entering.
Doing it on an anonymous tip is..........yeah...................dumb on steroids.
