This has actually been constructive - most posters at least.

agreed... typically, if a thread makes it this long, it's delved into echo chamber or insult fest... this is actually been a pretty good discussion, with plenty of actually good points, from both sides...

Technically it was Nancy Pelosi who first made the mythical distinction from a political podium, though for entirely different reasons.

I don't like what's going down right now, but I think it's necessary to clear up this misunderstanding. Section 230 of the CDA makes no legal distinction between platforms and publishers, and in fact no distinction exists anywhere in US federal law. It's a straw man that was constructed in the wake of the 2016 election, derived from legislation that originally had nothing to do with internet censorship and makes no such distinction. The fact that lawyers like Ted Cruz have bought into the myth doesn't make it true.

Here's an article that explains everything in detail:

Much as I think this is setting a terrible precedent, there's absolutely nothing illegal about it. Twitter and Facebook censorship is perfectly legal under current US law.

keepin' it 100....

In what respect? Or is this just another vague uninformed post?

Democrat checking in.

I understand the logic of why it's being done, but quite frankly it's not a good idea. Once that genie is out of the bottle, it ain't going back in.

Big tech is systematically coordinating to censor and it's concerning. I would not want it to happen to me. Now the nuts will be even more pissed, and they will find ways to coordinate.

again, do you honestly think censorship of information that we're seeing right now has ANYTHING to do with free market capitalism? if you do, you're pretty naive

Both twitter's and tigerdroppings band worked the same for me.

I was locked out of my account and couldn't post.

No difference
except you're now here posting your perspectives freely. the left is banning the right as fast as possible. demonetizing. flagging. stop acting like it's the same thing

Threads like this are stupid.

These people hate you and are trained to lie to you.

They support it. They are here to spike the football.

They want a world where you have separate laws. They can burn, loot and murder at will, while you are silent.

Ask them if they want Antifa banned too. They don’t. Quit wasting your time.
