Absolutely, he should have been deported long ago. All it would have taken to have it done legally would have been a motion to dissolve the hold based on the changed circumstances.

Obviously, Van Hollen is just grandstanding politically. Even if Abrego-Garcia returns to the US, he will be deported back to El Salvador as soon as the Administration gets the hold order removed due to the change in circumstances re gang threat in El Salvador.

The BASIS of the deportation hold was moot, but the order itself remained in place. The hold remains in place until removed.
