Cut out the bloat, waste, fraud, and corruption, wouldn't need all these damned taxes. A flat tax would serve us fine.
40 billion for a country to build a fig museum. That'd go a long way in what you describe.

That's not how taxes in the state are structured. It's not all. Bloat fraud and waste. Trump should focus on getting rid of irs and other things that are at a federal level instead of trying to dictate to states how they fund themselves

Trust me. None of you want the federal govt involved in funding your local roads and bridge construction and maintenance, your local police dept and sheriff’s dept, your local fire protection, your parks and ball fields, your local court system, your local emergency management and 911 dispatch center, your local justice, chancery, and circuit courts, your local schools, etc. When you get politics involved in those type of essential services, things go sideways quick. How about your homeowners insurance quadrupling because your fire dept didn’t get funded and your fire rating went from a 6 up to a 9 or 10 or not rated? Or the same with the sheriff’s dept. Insurance companies will surely take it into account when setting rates for that year. You need guaranteed revenue to provide those essential services. If any of those I mentioned suffered, there would be mutiny in the streets. What do you think would happen when the DC MF’rs didn’t pass a budget and your local county or parish didn’t get funded that year and you had none of those services I mentioned? Those things are what your property taxes pay for

Yep. Federal government doesn't tax real property.
Trump needs to focus on fedgov i.e. ban the IRS, before he starts spouting about what states should be doing. Let the individual states get their revenue however they see fit. Texas does it their way, Oklahoma does it its way.
Telling states how to rax isn't even remotely in his purview. Stay in your fricking lane and fix the things you actually have the powerand authority to fix. He has enough to worry about with just federal taxation.

At least make people who live in trailers below the homestead exemption amount pay something too so my property tax can come down. Why am I punished for “owning” property by having to pay for libraries, schools, and mosquito abatement while they get off scot free?

Yah, more federal overreach

Donald wants to kill the DoE and turn education over to the states while at the same time removing the major source of funding most of those states would use to fund schools. Makes sense.*
*I want the DoE dead......actually dead, killed via legislation enacted by Congress. I also want states (their voters) to determine how they will fund those schools.
Donald is just spouting nonsense with this.

Eliminating the DoE doesn’t eliminate federal funding.

True. And eliminating a major source of state education funding will make state education systems even more reliant on the Federal government.

Not my point, at all, which you missed.

That’s also true.
Having said all that, does the Fed have the power to tell states how to tax their residents?

education has always been a function of states, you idiot

I think he means turn the power of HOW to educate to the states.

Trump also promised to ban the double taxation of dual citizens but didn't lift a finger to make it come true in the recently passed bill. I don't believe his statements anymore.

I'll buy that land I've been wanting. Only reason I haven't is because I don't know for sure I would ever do anything with it and I don't want to have to pay taxes on it and maintain it.
You are not alone in that regard!
