Fun fact: I recently learned that Shirley Bassey’s rendition of “Goldfinger” was essentially 1/2 of an early Led Zeppelin song…with Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass) as session musicians playing with the orchestra.

I know our dollar isn’t backed by gold any longer but if we have significantly less than thought.. what would that mean for the economy and the dollar?
I mean it would at a minimum devalue the government’s holdings.

I wonder how they check if its a solid bar of gold. Weighing it would not be sufficient.

There hasnt been a comprehensive audit since the 50s, however there was a seal placed on the gold to ensure it isnt taken. All audits since just monitor the seals.
All you need to do break a few seals and ensure the gold is there. Not difficult to do and easily accountable.
