What are they not following in the trade agreement? I have not seen one allegation that they have broken the terms of the new NAFTA.

Trump announced that the products that fell under the agreement are exempt from tariffs for now. The agreement doesn’t cover all products.

Canada will trade more with China is my prediction.

China just slapped them with 100% tariffs as well.

I have to wonder what this is truly about. Something makes me think Trump didn’t like Canada creeping very close to this new Euroglobal-authoritarian style socialism. Canada is basically now a part of the EU bloc and is acting like one, which is completely antithetical to the U.S. and an extreme threat in the future. Perhaps Trump sees it and is trying to nip it in the bud.

Canada has been sus for a while now.

Who came up with the current trade deal with Canada?

Your hero. Now answer this question, who is not abiding by the deal? Then answer "who is smacking them around for not abiding by the deal?"

You sure about that?

I think Trump has backed himself into a corner he can't get out of. He's causing a recession all by himself. His ego is getting the best of him and it's only gonna hurt all Americans.

I have the same uneasy feeling.

I could be wrong. Trump could cause every country in the world to rescind all of their tariffs, and if he does I will happily raise my hand and confess that I never should have doubted him.

But I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that this is mainly about emotion—specifically, Trump's emotional need to "win" in order to feed his ego, and that he's doing exactly what you say. Painting himself into a corner that he will have to do something extreme to get himself out of.

Of course, better Canada than China, and he's already been told by China to stuff it, but you know he won't let that lie. And the more checks he lets his mouth write, the more his arse has to cover.

The Canadians have figured out that he's all bark and no bite.

That's the problem. He may end up barking so much that he may be leaving himself with no choice but to bite.

All this means is that this is yet another loss for Canada. We were simply buying the electricity. We have the resources to provide but I think it was cheaper to just buy from them or possibly a roundabout "green energy" BS thing because we weren't creating the energy ourselves.

I agree with the tariffs. Tariff the shite out of Canada. I disagree with this 51st state bullshite. We don't need anymore liberals or welfare recipients added to our population. If anything we need to be getting rid of the leeches starting with Hawaii. And frick Canada!

I take it you, nor the Canadians have read this study
quote:

Yang Zhou, an economist at Shanghai’s Fudan University, concluded in a study that Trump’s tariffs on Chinese goods inflicted more than three times as much damage to the Chinese economy as they did to the U.S. economy.

A Chinese professor of all people, said American tariffs hurt China 3x more during Trumps first round of tariffs. The tariffs on Canada will destroy their economy, because they are so much smaller than China

I agree but so far PDJT is not putting Americans first. Until he does that, he doesn't seem to be America First to me.

I wonder how long Canada will play this game of chicken before they crack? As long as Trump has support of the public and the Congressional GOP supports him the US can break them.

All this is killing my 401k.
