For most anyone in government discussing such matters with an adversary would be illegal. As president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law.
yea, that's kind of the problem though

How would a "former" US official know what happened?

President Trump revealed highly classified information to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador in a White House meeting last week, according to current and former U.S. officials, who said that Trump’s disclosures jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the Islamic State.

The information Trump relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.

The partner had not given the United States permission to share the material with Russia, and officials said that Trump’s decision to do so risks cooperation from an ally that has access to the inner workings of the Islamic State. After Trump’s meeting, senior White House officials took steps to contain the damage, placing calls to the CIA and National Security Agency.

So he told the Russians that Isis works for Israel? I'm guessing the Russians figured that one out some time ago.

Are you telling me the Commander in Chief doesn't have the authority to decide what information he deems relevant to be shared with other other world leaders in the course of foreign policy navigation?

When Truman informed Stalin of the first successful atomic bomb test, was that illegal?

The answer is no. Perhaps Trump's divulging of certain information could be argued to be unwise, that of course is subjective, but as President that's his call.

Congrats everyone.. We've officially reached a point in politics where a President's shills will shamelessly defend anything he does as long as it's not illegal.

Is there anything this side of breaking the law that you would possible criticize him for? Because, this is pretty bad even if its legal.

it's also his call to only allow the Russian controlled media to photograph the meeting.

Officially reached? We already reached that point with the Obamabots. Of course, you are too dense to understand that.

This board would be in stage 3 meltdown right now if you replaced Trump's name with Obama and this happened three years ago.

I'll answer truthfully.

I'll criticize Trump all day.
He was not my candidate in November, and he's not my favorite person now.

But sinc the alternative meant putting someone like Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton in the WH to place as many as four Supreme Court Justices on the bench in their first term alone ... I'll take Presidential shenanigans with the Russians every day.

Just sayin.

I'm sure our allies will be eager to share this kind of info in the future.

Dumbass Donald.

Oh my God. Impeach him now.

This, and the 2 scoops put him over the top. This is the high crime and 2 scoops is the misdemeanor. It's over for Trump.
