The fact that this has to be explained, is frightening. Not a bit surprising for this board, but frightening nonetheless
You must have been absolutely terrified when Obama had CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR, PBS all in his front pocket supporting and defending his agenda 24/7...
First, let me apologize for not playing along with the establishment's juvenile game of left vs. right like the rest of the board.
Second, yes, I am very concerned when the sheople lap up the establishment propaganda and are willfully herded in whatever direction it wants to take them regardless of who's in the White House.
It's no different today than it has been the last eight years....or the eight years before that....or the eight years before that...

I can see you still haven't bothered to research.

Not sure how it's any different than press briefings and tweets. Just more exposure of the President's message.
What would be "frightening" is if he started shutting down competition.

quote:No, not like that at all. Like physically shutting down the competition and jailing people for putting out news that was contrary to the message Trump wanted to promote. Real stuff, not the liberal "violations" of thoughts and feelings.
you mean like specifically calling certain MSM "fake news" 3x a day?

well yeah, that is full on dictator stuff there

if you can't see Trump end game with Trump TV and his current media war, then you are quite naive

Another one... all about the "names". Third leftist to ignore the first part of that post.
Not a leftist, pal. I just thought your post was funny. I actually laughed out loud when I read it.

This is simply throwing fuel on an already raging polarization fire in which people only seek news that agrees with their world view. shite like this only spreads rhetoric and ruins any chance of having actual cordial discourse.

quote:Exactly, and that's what we should be afraid of, not another competitor providing information to the public.
well yeah, that is full on dictator stuff there
quote:I don't care what the endgame is in this instance if it doesn't violate the Constitution and laws of the land. It's information sharing and as long as the government doesn't shut down the freedom of the press in violation of the Constitution, I don't care what goes on with this network.

That's fricked up

a sitting POTUS owning and running a media company is a bit different than just simply another competitor

This move has really pissed off CNN because their former employee is now calling her news Real News insinuating her last gig was fake news
I assure you the high ups at Cnn are laughing. Kayleigh Mclietoyouface, are you serious, you think a network headlined by her is to be taken seriously

"Everyone but Trump TV is fake news, therefore they're the only ones invited to the WH pressers."
That's still not autocracy nor is it even anything outside of imagination. So my point stands.

I was just making the point that the people saying there's nothing wrong with this only agree with it because their guy is doing it.
The whole notion is completely fricked up - no matter who the president is.
And as I already stated, that's a fair assessment and one I'm inclined to agree with. I took issue with the autocracy remark, nothing more, nothing less.

quote:Yes, but I don't see how it's harmful to have more information coming out from the POTUS, whether it's a tweet, a press secretary, or a news anchor. What's dangerous is when conflicting information or messaging is suppressed by the government.

quote:Just because I don't care about it doesn't mean I don't understand how others would. I just don't think it's another "crisis" or something to fear like some think it is. More information isn't bad. Less information can be bad. When freedom of the press is at stake, I'll care.
I'm willing to bet you would care if it was some other than the guy you voted for

Been happening since day 1 with the "build a wall" nonsense.
Yupp. It's funny how the goal is always moving. Now the wall isn't even a big deal.

well, ignoring the propaganda part of it, the harm comes when Trump TV gets exclusive access to the WH, interviews, etc
