"Free trade" on the international level is a wonderful ideal. At this point that's all it really is, though. The idea that one nation can (or should ever attempt to) exercise it unilaterally is nothing short of an absurdity.

I hope Trump tells Apple to get their head out of their ESG arse first. Trump really is going to have to get the Euros to step back. Their new ESG law is gonna trickle thru our economy real bad in the next few yrs. So he better have someone tough krackin that whip on those mfrs.

I do think he will, at least I hope he does, start putting tariffs on American companies that manufacture abroad.
If you remember, he gave a one time tax credit for American companies who had off shored their profits to bring back home. Many took advantage of it......and bought back shares instead of investing in plants. Made the CEOs a lot of money on their options, but did not benefit the US. I am sure Trump remembers it. He tried the carrot.....now comes the stick.
