And assurances were also made by Secretary of State James Baker to Russia that after the reunification of Germany, NATO would not expand further eastward. President Bush likewise had earlier assured Gorbachev during the December 1989 Malta summit that the West had no desire to expand into Eastern Europe.

Those assurances were never made official.

So you find it OK that Western intelligence operatives have been fanning the flames in Eastern Ukraine for over ten years?
They financed and built up the modern Neo-Nazi Banderas.

I can't understand why people are so pro-Russia and anti Ukraine. They tried to take over the world with communism last century, and exterminated 100 million people. It makes little sense. Somebody is behind this propaganda. Hopefully this new war will help build back up the military industrial complex and put people back to work. We have to many gen Z's laying around and doing nothing. Now, they can join the military.

Vladimir Lenin once said, "The capitalists will sell us the rope that we will hang them with."

This quote explains what is wrong with the USA. You can't be pro-capitalist and anti war. The two go hand in hand.

don't believe you. Why would they hate the guy defending their country and not the guy invading their country?

I don't care what you believe. He was 42 years old with two small children. His family did not want him to fight. He said he didn't want to see 18-year-old kids go out and die will he sat at home. The whole family is against the war. They are Russian speaking people who've lived in Ukraine for years and years.

The Banderas are real. He said there were many Neo-Nazis in his battalion. Just before he was killed, he came home for a few weeks. He told my wife's aunt that the moral was very low; that most men wanted to turn their guns on Kiev.

I have serious doubts your friend is fighting in the war. He's probably in a Kiev coffee shop or out drinking at a club as we speak.

No I don't. I want Russia to remove itself from Ukraine. Then Zelensky and Putin have vodka drinking competition to decide who gets Crimea.

US military power.

Of course, which is the same thing for Russia as it relates to Ukraine

I guess we just got so arrogant with our own power that we decided at some point they would never call our bluff. It’s clear we knew at least at one time that it would escalate into conflict.

So did we keep pushing out of arrogance and delusion? Or did we push to achieve what has transpired the last couple of years? That is the question

This is utterly evil. Your glee at death and destruction, and possible nuclear armageddon, is despicable.

The point is the American people voted for the war to end and our current administration on the way out decided to go against the will of the people and escalate this. They always act against the will of the people yet here you Ukraine bros are cheering it on

it was Gorbachev's understanding there would be no expansion of NATO and especially against the borders of the Russian Federation.

How bout we take ole gorbe’s word for it

quote:

We now have a very authoritative voice from Moscow confirming this understanding. Russia behind the Headlines has published an interview with Gorbachev, who was Soviet president during the discussions and treaty negotiations concerning German reunification. The interviewer asked why Gorbachev did not “insist that the promises made to you [Gorbachev]—particularly U.S. Secretary of State James Baker’s promise that NATO would not expand into the East—be legally encoded?” Gorbachev replied: “The topic of ‘NATO expansion’ was not discussed at all, and it wasn’t brought up in those years. … Another issue we brought up was discussed: making sure that NATO’s military structures would not advance and that additional armed forces would not be deployed on the territory of the then-GDR after German reunification. Baker’s statement was made in that context… Everything that could have been and needed to be done to solidify that political obligation was done. And fulfilled.”

Quit parroting Putin propaganda.

You want to say that the fight is Ukraines and Russia that’s fine.

I won’t allow your America hating and blaming to go unchecked though.

I truly believe that the only reason people are pro Russia is because Trump is pro Russia. If Trump was pro Ukraine, then the Trump fans would be pro Ukraine. That's how brainwashed they are.

I suspect that Trump has some sort if financial interest invested in Russia, and that is the only reason he is pro Russia. All of his wives except one came from this area.

Honest question, how hard is it for you to convince yourself of these fallacies? To ignore all first hand evidence and instead just hold on so tightly to straw men and make believe must take alot of effort.
