the IRGC is literally a now EU labeled terrorist group
And yet, because Le Orange Homme Malo, they are currently doing everything they can to deter Trump from taking Military action.
Makes one wonder why?

the only group of people largely politicing for no military action in any meangingful way are the gulf states who are concerned about the fall out, and russia

IRAN'S PRESIDENT INSTRUCTS FOREIGN MINISTER TO PURSUE NEGOTIATIONS WITH U.S.
Pezeshkian:
"I have instructed my Minister of Foreign Affairs, provided that a suitable environment exists — one free from threats and unreasonable expectations — to pursue fair and equitable negotiations."
This is the first official signal from Tehran that they'll come to the table in Turkey.
Between this and Iran's reported offer to suspend the nuclear program and ship uranium to Russia, the U.S. pressure campaign is producing results.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Reports online are that the vessel ignored the armed vessel's threats and continued on it's course.
The IRGC is going to FAFO if they actually try to board a ship. That will basically bring the negotiations to an abrupt halt and probably prompt a military response.

Six Iranian gunboats armed with .50cal machine guns approached the American-flagged, Danish-owned oil tanker M/T STENA IMPERATIVE earlier today near the Strait of Hormuz in a threatening manner, after the vessel departed the United Arab Emirates bound for the Naval Support Activity Bahrain on the Persian Gulf. According to the Maritime-security firm Vanguard Tech, the Iranian gunboats ordered the oil tanker to halt and prepare for boarding by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). In response to the threat, the tanker sped up and was not further perused by the gunboats, later meeting up with a U.S. naval vessel that escorted the tanker the remaining way to Bahrain.

Feels like Iran is just seeing what they can get away with at this point. I imagine if they had actually boarded that tanker earlier this morning, the mullahs would already be on fire at this moment.

When the gunboats approached the oil tanker this morning they were accompanied by a drone.

The vessel involved is the tanker STENA IMPERATIVE 9666077, currently operating in the Middle East.
The ship sails under the U.S. flag and is enrolled in the U.S. Navy’s Tanker Security Program.
This is the tanker that Iranian gunboats reportedly encircled earlier today.
The U.S. Navy’s Tanker Security Program is a strategic maritime arrangement that quietly underpins U.S. war planning and global energy security.
These ships remain commercially operated in peacetime but are contractually aligned with the U.S. Navy for rapid use during crises or war.
Modern warfare runs on fuel. Carrier strike groups, bombers, ISR aircraft, and logistics fleets consume enormous volumes. TSP tankers ensure the U.S. military has immediate access to fuel without relying on foreign flagged ships or uncertain commercial markets.
Because they are U.S. flagged and enrolled in the program, these tankers can receive direct U.S. Navy protection. Harassment of a TSP vessel is not just a commercial incident. It is treated as pressure on a U.S. military asset.
When Iran interferes with a TSP tanker, it sends a clear signal that they are testing U.S. red lines. That is why incidents involving these vessels get quiet but serious attention in Washington and at CENTCOM.

Regime change would end the Iranian nuke program better than bombing it.
