We can gloat about the country going 0 for the day but I think that’s in poor taste and painting with far too broad of a brush. I would suspect that most of the athletes aren’t like rapinoe. I get the vitriol against the women’s soccer team as a whole. But we should cheer on the athletes that are there just doing their thing and representing us while they’re at it.

I'm having a difficult time being patriotic about sports and/or worrying about how the USA performs. Too much bullshite around any of this stuff. Of course those representing their country who are also protesting their country can frick right off.

Agreed. I think that is largely media driven though. The activist athlete is given a platform that most are not. I used to spend an enormous amount of time watching sports but as it became more and more politicized I turned it off. I long for the days when I could watch a game without being force fed sjw talking points. But I know there are good kids going out there and playing their butts off that will represent the country well.

USA just won gold and silver in the same race.
There are over 600 US olympic athletes and less than 10% of them will protest. Most of them were enthusiastic to march in the opening ceremonies. The rest were on a bus coming back from practice wondering who scheduled soccer practice at that time.
On a side note, who knew the "leader" of the woman's soccer team, that isn't a starter, is engaged to someone proud enough of her country to be voted as a flag barer?

? Just watched them win 3 in about 5 minutes, and this happened early today and is just re-airing.you know not every athlete is woke right?

ETA(Again): I have no love for USWNT soccer and don’t want them anywhere near a medal, same with the blue lipped hammer thrower, but I’m all for the US winning when it’s the athletes that celebrate representing this country, or at least keep their mouths shut.
