Not to pry but curious what company do you work for? I have a friend in the same business.

So I looked it up.

In 2025 "regulators" in LA passed a reg that allowed 50% of the cost to be passed on to customers.

Hmm being LA Id like to check yacht basins for these regulators new boats......Id check the out piers for the larger ones

I heard on the local news in KCMO that a company from the Netherlands just bought a 400 acre tract of land for a data/server farm in Independence MO. The people in Independence are already gearing up to fight the project.

That was last night and who can blame them? It's supposed to be a 100 billion dollar monstrosity that will use up precious water supplies and be given huge tax abatements and the possibility of causing flooding downstream because of where they're located. (along with other industrial type business set to build in the newly acquired 1200 acres of flood plain.)

snip:
“The tax incentives favoring PILOTs amount to about a 90% abatement on real estate taxes, a 98% abatement on property taxes that they would otherwise owe,” said Stephanie Robinson, one of the concerned Independence residents who spoke. “The PILOTs are projected to amount to roughly $700 million over 20 years, where if Nebius had to pay their fair share of full taxes without PILOTs, the revenue would be in the $50 billion range over 20 years. That’s corporate welfare and we should not be settling for less overall revenue if we really care about funding our community.”

I'm on engineering side. I work for the companies the data center companies hire to design the facility and produce construction documents.

It's never cheap, but it's no excuse to not be stockpiling anyway.

I was doing $500 a month before the economy tanked and things got tight - plus I have 2 in college. I’m about to start back. 5.56 one month, 7.62x39 the next, .22 & deer rifle ammo the next - repeat.
