We made about 220k last year. This isn't a brag. I'm compensated well beyond my intelligence but I happen to work for a large energy company and get a lot of OT, as well as a bonus. Payroll and Fed/La income taxes got me for 50k. I did the math to figure up what I spent in sales tax and added my property taxes. I figure, all told, I spent $70,000 on taxes last year. I've been livid about it since I got my last pay stub at the end of the year. There's just no sense in what we're putting out, instead of putting that into our family. This is all a farce and it's money wasted at the federal, state, and local level. The IRS has a gun to our heads. What choice do we have?

That is the crux…if you are a responsible citizen who is “on the rolls” you don’t have a good choice. Only those on govt dole, criminals and super wealthy make out.
Drive down a road in Louisiana; visit the Post Office, or most public “customer svc” and the theft is obvious. Hard not to be “Falling Down” angry at the morass.

just cut a check to both Feds and state after filing income taxes on top of the mini fortune they took from me all year for doing well.
Then we see all of the disgusting fraud, waste and abuse that pigs feeding at trough got fat on..:
This has to stop.
Trump can lead our way, but the responsibility falls in we the people. Until we start voting in better government representation there will be no lasting change.
Remember the lead up to the election when folks around here were saying our votes didn't matter cuz everything was rigged???
That has been proven false. Our votes do matter and untill more taxpayers wake up and understand this...,. we'll be right back to where we were.

Maybe the DOGE shite will FINALLY open up some unopened eyes! Stroking checks to the Feds every year and now seeing the bullshite thrown in everyone's face on how that money is being spent, has to open a LOT of eyes! For the life of me, I do not know how the average person defends this steaming pile of shite! Especially knowing that a large percentage of the expenditures, go back into the pockets of those that push the payments for things like Sesame Street in motherfricking Iraq!
Torches and pitchforks should be outside Congress as I type this!

We as a society are not mad enough. Yet.

50% of the population pays ZERO federal income tax! A great percentage of the rest that do pay, know more about "American Idol" than they do about anything going on with our government. Hell, I'd probably cry if I saw the true statistics on just the women in our country who are addicted to murder/porn podcasts and tv shows.
As a society, we are following the Fall of the Roman Empire like it's a fricking roadmap! More people follow shite that has absolutely no effect on their lives, than the actual shite that does. Mark my words. More people will be talking about the best Superbowl commercial on Monday, than how their government is wasting their money.

All we need to do is eliminate payroll deductions. If everyone had to stroke a check in April, this shite would end with a quickness

It’s not going to matter, yeah the Politicians screwed us, but we are going down, the debt is too big, the rates are too high. We either cut Medicare/Social Security, or double the taxes, now, or just print money and have inflation through the roof. All of Doge financial crimes won’t fix what we are headed for, it’s like pissing in the ocean…

quote:Agreed. Most have no idea what they pay. Hell, most use the tax refund as a fricking savings account! Imagine giving someone thousands of dollars, and being happy to get a small percentage back, a year later. Don't even get me started on the folks "getting back" more than they paid in. There is zero logical reason why that should ever happen.
