I really believe with this recent focus on sexual harassment and abuse allegations, Texas could go blue as early as 2018!
Look at 2016. Hillary only lost Texas by 9%. That's MUCH better than Obama did in 2008 & 2012 and Wendy Davis did vs Abbort in 2014.
A truly charismatic Democrat could beat Abbott next year if he/ she ran (I'm not talking up Wendy Davis, been there, done that).

Minimal. 2nd and 3rd Generation Hispanics are far more conservative than their parents and grandparents.

She would have lost to Ted Cruz by 30%

I lived in TX for a long time.. i finally got the hell out of there; the entire state is a ****hole.. but one thing i can tell you all is that *if* TX ever goes blue, it wont be because of illegal immigrants; it will be because the population of people who live in the cities starts to outnumber the population of the people who live in the country.. TX is such a big *** state that there are enough small towns and rural areas currently to keep it red.. but most, if not all of the large cities in TX are already blue; Houston, where i lived, went Hillary in last yr’s election, which i think surprises a lot of people to hear... In any case, i have my doubts that TX will ever go blue- or even purple— because as someone above mentioned, the Repubs will use gerrymandering or whatever other means necessary to stay in power.

95% of the LEGAL immigrants I know voted for Trump and hold extremely conservative values.
Legal immigrants are not going to turn anything blue.

Texas has always been and always will be
1. Heavily Hispanic 2. Heavily Red

You couldn’t be more wrong

a 2012 study of 2,900 foreign-born, naturalized immigrants cited in the report showed that about 62 percent identified themselves as Democrats, while 25 percent identified as Republicans, and 13 percent identified as independents. At this moment, according to the report, there are an estimated 8.7 million immigrants in the U.S. who are eligible for naturalization. Not all will become voting citizens, but somewhere between 50 percent and 60 percent will. And it's a sure bet that a majority will identify themselves as Democrats
Immigrants have already permanently altered the political landscape.

Motivating the latinos is the issue.
If they turned out, tex is blue 2018.
They don't.
