He's a business as usual guy that won't make any meaningful changes. Those types are always popular in Louisiana. We don't like change here.

The national media is covering this is a Dem governor’s seat flipping to R. While technically accurate, Louisiana is a solidly red state and the only reason JBE was Governor because he beat two deeply flawed candidates - Landry’s election was just a return to normal.

But I did see a “message” in this election that might have broader significance: the black vote stayed home, That could be because Shawn Wilson was a bad candidate, but any black candidate with enough standing to force a runoff would normally be enough to get the black vote out. It wasn’t this time, and part of me wonders if this isn’t a sign of a deeper problem for the Dems going into 2024.

The message is that really smart candidates don’t even bother to run.

That is one of the areas that piqued my curiosity: black voter turnout. Is that an indication for 2024?

How many old timers are still registered as Democrat (because that's how my daddy voted) but vote for a Republican in most cases? I call this ignorance!

That is just a stupid take. What does freaking matter what someone is registered as? What matters is how you vote.

Wilson was not Edwards. Edwards is a savvy politician. Edwards was able to get disaffected Republicans to vote for him and gin up the black vote.

This time there was really no Democrat in the race and the Republicans as a whole were uninspiring.

Yeah, the message is that most people are burnt out on politics and we understand that things rarely Improve for the average person regardless of who is elected.

Bruh, if the guy was from Shreveport speaking like that you’d have a point. St. Martinville? No.

Hope Landry begins to make Louisiana better than it currently is. The blue print is easy. Go look at what Texas does and copy them.

The message is that any republican could beat any democrat after the last 8 years, even a slimy turd like Landry. And I voted for him.

When I was campaigning door to door, I was shocked by how many elderly people said things like “I don’t want Louisiana to grow”, “I don’t know anyone who has moved away”, “good, less people, less crowded”, “we don’t want more companies coming here.”

I was a Republican canvassor in Louisiana in 2012,2019,2020, and this election. Most boomer conservatives thought "weed" and "gay stuff" were the most important issues. It was very rare for them to mention economic issues like economic development or regulation as their top issue. It was actually frowned upon by the election team here to discuss it because so many voters here were so left leaning on every economic issue except taxation.

No wrongism in Louisiana, and wrongists aren't welcome here.

Only the Right.

Landry did wear diapers and the Baptist north had no reason to vote against him or stay home. SW had no good sound bites to run on.
