Oh so most black people in America didn't come from slaves

All I am saying is there is no way to know this.

I was being VERY literal.

they just changed their name from their African name when they moved here on their own accord.

I would bet many did, as did many others. That is all I am saying. I provided an example, which was personal. My example spreads across 6 generations (at least) and literally accounts for thousands of people today.

This action was not uncommon back in the day. I suppose that's an OT thread for another day.

Everyone has biases and prejudices. We are human after all but the key is to rise above it.

Not race bait like you.

Shove your catch phrase. Racism is just another catch all PC phrase used by leftists to silence any discussions of which they do not approve. My point is valid, there are all kinds of minorities that came here and have done just fine. And some , like the Chinese and yes group the Irish in there too, were treated worse than slaves in a lot of places.

There has been no group treated worse since the birth of this country than African Americans and it's not even close. Only an arrogant and Willingly ignorant person would possibly think that non-enslaved people had it worse.

And no white police officers were killed. Yet many of us are outraged.

Did your parents teach you certain values and did what they could to ensure your success?

Bingo. You win the prize.

Decency is being killed. That is the problem I have.

Decency comes in all shapes, sizes and races.

I'm personally glad the country is trending that way. Id rather have that then USA 1960s.

I'm OK with it. Why do you ask?

Two groups go batshit over interracial marriage; old whites with kluxer leanings, and black females.

Native Americans.

What do I win? Can I call you ignorant? Or does that make me "racist" for pointing this out?

The price for slavery was paid in blood back in the 1860's my friend. No one alive today has been a slave, nor owned any. It is time to quit making excuses using an institution that has been gone for 150 years.

Time for people to take responsibility for their own actions or lack of same.

Were you there? I was. 1960 was great for blacks compared to today. They graduated from HS, had jobs, got married, raised their kids, didn't do drugs and didn't commit crime. Now, I agree that if they did all those things today they would be better off than 1960. But they don't.

There's a shite ton of racism in this thread by just calling a group "asians

On the Poliboard, MD...the meaning of the word 'racism' is employed as an innate hatred of an individual or group based on the color of their skin. Hatred...being key.

It is ludicrous, misguided - and demagogic in some instances - to assume that a mere description of Racial/Genetic characteristics and scientifically-verifiable statistics for the analytical purpose of rightly assessing and solving our societal problems...has anything to do with hatred. Probably closer to love.

All of us have PREDICTABLE Genetic inclinations, re our beliefs and actions. Nature...and Nurture. The best that we can do is to establish and promote societal principles which are based on HONEST AND TRUE assessments of those predictable Genetic and Cultural behaviors...principles taught in schools which counter the negatives and support the positives.

A relevant example being...that in the current Educational paradigm, the FACT that many BLACKS OWNED SLAVES in pre-Civil War America...is totally left out of the education process. Ask yourself (honestly)...does the omission of this fact in regard to the historical education of our young...promote racial healing/harmony...or harm it? "You can tell a tree by the fruit that it bears" (Biblical). There is some serious evil behind the curtains up there at the top...or some serious ignorance and self-delusion. Neither can be long tolerated...less we pay dearly.

The War on Poverty happened. Instead of people like Dr. King you have people like Al Sharpton. Black people were told that they are victims and Uncle Sugar is going to make it up to you, and many unfortunately bought in.

Amen. One needs to look at the Great Society and the Welfare System. Look at what this system has done to Indians on the reservations.
