Reagan expanded handouts , Clinton did welfare reform.

A REAL conservative doesn't expand handouts just like a REAL conservative doesn't support abortion.

Regan was likable but he was no conservative.

Nope. Congress (Dem led) did that. And it wasn’t part of the presidential budget requests.

Prove to me Reagan vetoed the expansion of the Earned Income Credit and they overrode his veto.

Prove to me Clinton vetoed welfare reform and his veto was overridden.

Reagan and Clinton each own those legislations.

Just like Trump owns those bloated Omnibus bills he keeps signing instead of vetoeing.

did you just throw the 100 years thing out there for the hell of it?

Good point, but no, but while I picked the 100 years as an earmark, it wasn't just for kicks. I LOVE Ike, and definitely appreciate all of his accomplishments as Supreme Allied Commander and his accomplishments as POTUS, he was indeed a great President. Ike accomplished a TON of great things in an age of massive prosperity. I guess to explain my rationale a bit, I would say that Reagan and Trump both came along at a period of malaise, low morale, loss of momentum and despair, brought about by preceding failures, and both boosted the country in a great time of need. I take NOTHING away from Ike, and he is easily in the discussion as well.

Amnesty and expanding the Earned Income Credit , that's what I think of when I hear people talking about Reagan

If that is what you think about when you think of Reagan you are a fool.

The thought process of the EIC was to reward work and to slow and eventually quit directed handouts. When Regan supported the expansion of EIC he also cut AFDC and was the first to give states the option of having medicaid work requirements. Reagan did not start the EIC--that was Ford in 75. Reagan expanded it as a part of the tax reform act of 1986---a deal he made with a split Congress.

Amnesty for immigrants was a no brainer and EVERY President since Reagan has practiced amnesty in reality. Trump is basically following the amnesty doctrine as we speak. Anyone that wants a government so big that it could deport the people here illegally (estimated to be up to 11 million people) is a naive big government advocate.

Reagan could not cut spending with a split congress. He made big changes.

Clinton had to deal with a republican congress after 94. It was a republican Senate FYI that acquitted him on impeachment. I wish Gingrich had ignored the Lewinsky affair and simply behind the scenes held it over Clinton's head. Gingrich and Clinton almost had a deal on private social security accounts that went out the window when Gingrich started toward impeachment. That change would have done more to end generational poverty in this county than any thing since. Clinton was not Reagan.

Why would you want that. Go do some learning. Neither would have survived a veto. You also might want to have a look at what Reagan actually vetoed. Good grief.

You should be mad at whoever misled you so bad.

Yup. SS and medicare are totally Trump’s fault.

And he'll even if his veto would have stood it's absurd to act so retarded as to think that every bill a president doesn't veto is when he fully supports

When you are working with a congress with a strong majority of the opposition party it's not like you're going to get what you want exactly

He probably also doesn’t realize the congressional republicans in the 80s were completely spineless. Like... would have made Paul Ryan looked like a buzz saw spineless. It wasn’t until the ‘94 congressional sweep that the republicans got an upgrade to RINO.
