southern states are far more reliant on federal funding

I looked at snap benefits for Louisiana a few years ago. Over 70% of the snap benefits went to parishes that were dominated by blacks, population wise and run by democrats. Same with Mississippi. Big blue cities in red states as well.

Comparatively speaking to the rest of the United States, there’s a heavier concentration of college educated residence in those states. Universities, especially private ones are a breeding ground for liberal ideology.

Haven't met many Scandinavians, but I'd bet these Utah Mormons could give 'em a run for their money.

I’ll take the Utah Mormons all day over the white yankee leftists.

Why are states in the Deep South so......conservative?

Indiana is not exactly a hotbed of leftist sentiment
Ohio is a very moderate to conservative place.
In Illinois. It's really just the Chicago area
Wisconsin is pretty split
Minnesota has always been full of Prairie Populists

The big cities dictate, because of the population

If you look at the maps the least educated states are red and the most educated states are blue.

Deep deep union states. They support the party that supports them.

The big cities mostly. Rural areas are like the rest of the country. In red states, the cities are left wing.

Name one major metropolitan area that isn't chockful of liberals. That's where a high percentage of the population is centered in those states.

Right here^^^^.

The attraction of a large metropolitan area drawing swarming Democratic Socialists/Marxists is akin to a porch light and moths on a warm summer evening. I think it's pretty clear, large cities are where progressive collectivists with the Democratic Socialism hive mind gather.

"Scandanavia" is always the most common answer always thrown out there, but that might be lazy

Not really, when that was a major source of Minnesota's white immigrants in the late 19th/into the 20th century. Actual Scandinavia seems to be worse off than anywhere else in Europe with terminal empathy.
