Jews and Asians vote democrat because they have liberal social views, and believe in extensive state intervention in the economy.

I agree with the liberal social views, but I also think they vote D more so because they view it as a party that is more inclusive and tolerance of different background, cultures, ethnicities, etc. Whether you believe that to actually be the case is a matter of ones opinion.

I think you are slightly revising what conservatives say.

Hispanics and Blacks vote D for economic security. Because those two make by probably 90% of minorities in this nation, I think it is fair to just group them as "minorities"

I agree.

Then you must agree with me that this board is chalk full of low info idiots bc that response is regurgitated ad nauseam in any thread regarding minorities and their voting habits.

Maybe so. The exodus of white people from the democratic party has definitely made the party appear more "inclusive".

But the GOP has many minority groups, such as Vietnamese and Cubans. Also, Russians are extremely republican, for an obvious reason.

Are you suggesting 85% or more of a specific voting block always voting a straight ticket worthy of scrutiny?

I read these same exact articles in the 1980s. Democrats were supposedly a dying party, etc, etc.

Yep, people thought the Dems were dead in the 80's.

A two term president and some a little cocky. Things will be much different in a few years.

I think it is troubling that 95% of Blacks vote democrat, and I find it equally troubling that 95% if southern whites vote republican. It is never healthy for a democratic nation to have "teams"

Name a single Dem that would get elected if they promised actual cuts to social programs.

Overall, when talking significant quantities, no they really don't.

Agreed 100%. This shows to me that is less about issues and actual policies, and more about associations. Blacks feel more comfortable associating and voting as democrats. I mean, its not like 95% of blacks are actually receiving entitlements, so there has to be something more.

And likewise, I believe southern whites are more comfortable associating with the Republican party. Keep in mind that we are on a political message board so we are not an accurate, random sampling of voters when it comes to political awareness. Some people dont GAF about issues and just want to do what all their friends/co-workers/etc are doing.

Because it IS a factual statement that the Dem base wants...no, DEMANDS freebies. It's not just a "Republican meme".

You know as well as I do that no Democrat has a shot in any election in any county/parish in America if they vow to gut welfare.

Now, it's not the only reason minorities vote Dem, but it is a huge reason for it.

What percentage of individuals who are either not Christian or not white (I have broadened the term minority here to include more than just race) who voted D in 2012 receive more money from the government than they pay to the government? This isn't some "gotcha," just wondering if you had that data handy since you are making such strong claims.

Edited for clarity.

Both parties pander their base. Dems just figured out long ago it's better to have a more broad base. They aren't helping anyone, but empty rhetoric gets people elected on both sides of the aisle.

It's not just about them being on welfare. It's the core Liberal belief that government is a charitable organization. Even the wealthiest of Liberals want MORE spending on welfare. There isn't a single one (Democrat politician) who's against growing the welfare state.

All you have to do to validate what I'm saying is look for a single Democrat who's for cutting any welfare "benefits". Not "cutting the rate of growth", but actual cuts. You will not find one.

Again, the idea that minorities want "free shite" is not just a "Republican meme".

Think about it, would a Dem have a chance if he/she told their constituency that they were going to cut welfare programs? Of course they wouldn't.
