Wonder how those other states confiscate wealth yet still find a way not to be ranked 50th in everything.

No one really comes out and says it, but there are a lot of rankings that pretty closely follow certain demographic data. It is what it is and as long as it’s a taboo subject it’ll never change and that is the real reason why Louisiana stays poor.

How stupid is someone who believes giving the government more money somehow translates to the wealth or financial capabilities of its populace? Giving the government more money destroys wealth, it doesn't create it. Government confiscates and creates nothing.
depends on the government... have you ever lived in a county or city that had its shite together? The folks in that video make good points and are trying to help demand more return to help the state. Nothing wrong with trying to get more leverage.

If you think pumping more money into school systems will help , you have a problem.

Government sucks at nearly everything they do.

Get rid of the teachers unions , and allow a principal to fire bad teachers would go along way in improving schools.

Also , single parent homes is a big contributor to this.

Louisiana doesn't have enough money because it doesn't spend enough money. Brilliant.

Umm what? Not sure the point you are trying to make?

What result can you have from wealth if you don’t spend that wealth? How good of an investor can you be if you don’t invest?

Brilliant?

Really? You haven’t seen it despite it being posted on PT and the OT about a dozen times as well as being spread far and wide by TogetherBR ?

I don’t believe you. As to how it’s wrong, the state is poor because we have a take take take mentality (Huey P Long is still lives here), rely on government regulation to stifle competition (you need to be licensed to be an official florist. A FLORIST), and our legal culture leans dramatically towards personal injury lawyers favor.

We don’t pass business friendly laws, and everywhere you turn, people are trying to shake down successful business just to get their’s.

And that’s not even mentioning the fact that we have lots of public school parents who don’t give a shite enough about their kids education to even bother requiring their kids to try in the slightest, but God forbid you discipline them.

It’s not tax breaks’ fault LA are poor. It’s our politicians’ and residents’ fault for our horrible decision making.

Also, our budget is $24+ Billion. Isn’t that in par with GA, despite having significantly fewer people?

You really think they’d spend billions trying to build a new facility and recreating all the pipelines and existing infrastructure because you increased their property tax?

Yes. Because while it may not be profitable in the immediate future, what’s to say that once the business climate begins to deteriorate, it won’t become even more expensive in a business unfriendly state?

Where are you gonna get this in BR?

Reinvestment in infrastructure? You mean like a loop around the “new bridge”? You know, the one they needed for decades but decided to build one in St. Francisville instead?

But the state doesn’t have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem. Same thing with the city.

Together Louisiana is blaming the water for finding the hole in the boat.

The video is a cheap parlor trick by Together Louisiana attempting to project blame on “rich white people” for Louisiana’s stupid, back-asswards lifestyles. It uses totally disassociated factors in a weak attempt to draw incriminating parallels while ignoring the fact that we (state & local governments) continue to coddle the poor by throwing money at them rather than confronting self-defeating lifestyles and helping them change their value system and priorities.

The opening salvo using the zip-code comparison is total bullshite and says nothing to address the moral degradation of the inhabitants of that zip-code (and other zip codes) and implies big industry is to blame for the living conditions of the inhabitants living adjacent to it. Together Louisiana seizes upon this anomaly and tries to make this situation appear to be unique to Louisiana – when it’s not. It’s a prime example of inhabitants failing to take advantage of the tools that are under their noses for escaping a lifestyle that only exacerbates the issues of poverty and the negative elements associated with it. This is not unique to Louisiana. It’s a reflection of personal priorities and moral decisions being turned upside down nationwide.

Stop blaming the water (big industry) for finding the hole in the boat (Louisiana's geographical footprint, proximity to strategic land and water features, and petroleum-rich resources and willingness to capitalize on them).

I suggest this as a good starting point: Self-Reliance, by Ralph Waldo Emerson (c. 1843)
