Can we exclude food from the sales tax?

That's what the prebate is for.

No. I’d support cutting federal spending, no income tax, no property tax, no sales tax.

Invade neighboring countries and tax them like in the old days.

Every time I think I've seen one of the dumbest things ever someone tries to top it

I am all for it . It would make the people who spend more then they make and go bankrupt bail their selves out. Taxes on spending would make people think more about spending more .

Optimal scenario is that our income goes up by 30% and the average cost increase is the same.

I would take that deal.

I think food and necessities are excluded from it.

It all just hinges on a repeal of the 16th amendment ?

That's the purpose of the prebate. No categorical exemptions. That's what got us where we are again today.

Repeal of the 16A is an active component of the activation of the bill, yes.

It isn't a fair tax. People making 60k or less spend all of their money on living. 100% tax on them. I think it should be a flat 20% income tax on everyone, no deductions.

That's what the left would say abou this:

"Fair" is a useless term in these discussions.

My point is it isn't "fair" when 60k and less earners pay taxes on everything they earn. I also think EVERYONE should pay 20%. This will never happen because the big accounting firms make too much money on the current system. It needs creative destruction.

DOGE

Yeah I get that and I'm with you on the need for DOGE. But I know exactly how much I pay in income taxes every year.

Stockholm Syndrome is real.

Besides, if you're so enamored with the process, under the NRST, you still have the autonomy to cut a check to the US Treasury every April 15, but something tells me that you won't.

You're really defensive about this plan, it's weird.

No, I've been studying it for the past 25 years, so I understand how it works.

As a result, when contrarian shitbirds come along and squawk about it incoherently, I correctly identify the nonsense being spouted and respond accordingly.

Folks defending the current income tax racket, practically fawning over knowing exactly how much federal income tax they owe is what's weird. The temperature of the water has been raised so slowly since 1913, you think a boiling pot is your natural habitat.

its my understanding that the only purchases that are taxed are retail

private transactions between individuals (selling a used car, or Facebook Marketplace type sales, for example) would not be subjected to NRST

That is correct. Under the NRST plan, states are compensated for their cooperation in collecting the tax on new goods/services. In turn, the retailers are compensated for their role in collecting the tax at the point of sale. This is an incentive program similar to how retailers are paid when they accept proceeds for lottery purchases or utility payments.

I’m all for consumption tax, but 40%, hell no.

Little rant about not THE Fair Tax, but fair tax. I am so sick of hearing POS liberals that make no money scream about paying their fair share. If we all got taxed at 15% I’m paying more tax than they are but at least it’s the same percent. But no, I also get taxed at a higher rate. Fair share my arse!

And that’s why we need something different.

You've spent 25 years studying this shitty plan? The plan would add trillions to the federal deficit and be inflationary. Great idea!

I'm not a proponent of the current tax system either. But completely blowing it up isn't the answer.
