Sounds like weed and TV/YouTube has had the most influence on your thinking. Ever read a book?

He's rolling in his grave with all the fake conservatives nowadays to be sure.
Yes he is. He was never a conservative however. He was a classic liberal.
He was very a much a free traders and very much an advocate for school choice.
The one thing he did that impacted most posting here I suspect was he was the leading voice against the military draft.
From a column by Don Boudreaux at Cato
quote:Written in 2016
At the height of the Vietnam War, U.S. commander Gen. William Westmoreland testified before the President’s Commission on an All-Volunteer Force. The 15 members of that commission were charged with exploring the feasibility of ending the military draft.
Staunchly opposed to an all-volunteer military, which must pay its soldiers market wages, Gen. Westmoreland proclaimed that he did not want to command “an army of mercenaries.” One of the commission members immediately shot back with a question: “General, would you rather command an army of slaves?” That penetrating query was posed by Milton Friedman, a diminutive (he stood only 5 feet 3 inches tall) giant among 20th-century scholars. Were he still alive — he died in 2006 — Friedman would celebrate his 100th birthday on July 31.
Don Boudreaux is a great American. He got his BA at Nicholls State and was born in New Orleans.

Donald J. Boudreaux is a professor of economics at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Previously, he was president of the Foundation for Economic Education (1997-2001); Associate Professor of Legal Studies and Economics at Clemson University (1992-1997); and Assistant Professor of Economics at George Mason University (1985-1989).
During the Spring 1996 semester he was an Olin Visiting Fellow in Law and Economics at the Cornell Law School. His PhD in economics is from Auburn University (1986) and his law degree is from the University of Virginia (1992).
He has lectured, in the United States, Canada, Latin America, and Europe, on a wide variety of topics, including the nature of law, antitrust law and economics, and international trade. He is published in the Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily, Regulation, Reason, Ideas on Liberty, the Washington Times, the Journal of Commerce, the Cato Journal, and several scholarly journals such as the Supreme Court Economic Review, Southern Economic Journal, Antitrust Bulletin, and Journal of Money, Credit, and Bankin

Malcolm Gladwell. (His books are fascinating)
quote:The audio books are fantastic - and free (Overdrive.com + a library card). He narrates all of them. Unfortunately, he's a flaming liberal, thereby tarnishing his motives just a bit. All in all, he's a fantastic storyteller and thought provoker. "Outliers" is my favorite.
My favorite is David and Goliath
But they're all entertaining to read

I'm really not trying to be insulting here, but, there is no way those people are the greatest influences on your thinking. You simply listed brand names that you want people to associate with you. That goes for most in this thread. Sam Harris? Peterson? Give me a break. Those are people you've watched on youtube. Have so few of you lived a life where your thinking is influenced by your actual experiences and those around you at the time vs some in vogue "thinker" who you discovered in your late 20s or 30s?
Hell, the thug who pulled a gun on my mother and me when I was 12 had a greater impact on my thinking than all of these trendy debaters combined.
