Gonna slot into the new 'core player' designation. I believe it's essentially a dp but paid by the league(?) I'm assuming it's motivation for all teams to bring in a big name

No idea if they will use this or a DP spot, but FC Dallas is apparently talking with Abou Diaby. He will NEVER see the field because he's made of glass.

Sunderland are in talks to sign Zenit centre back Nicolas Lombaerts and Dutch forward Jeremie Lens of Dynamo Kiev, according to Sky sources.

I've seen Lens play with Netherlands, anyone know anything about Lombaerts besides him being on Belgium nat team?

Also 5 year extension for Lee Cattermole done!

Big, rangy center back who has been a starter for Zenit since he arrived. He can chip in some goals off set pieces. He also speaks perfect English, so adjusting to life at Sunderland shouldn't be hard.

He probably speaks better than the locals.

Thanks for the info.

Sport says Real Madrid is talking to Arturo Vidal.

Don´t know what to say as to the veracity of this statement (Vidal has disciplinary issues, and that´s frowned upon in Chamartín).

Enjoy our backup, always hurt, pretty damn mediocre fullback.

I figured you'd be on to post something bitter. Thanks for not letting me down.Sentiment seems to be pretty different than yours everywhere else as well.Didn't realize backups got 150 appearances in 4 seasons...

I'm not bitter. He's pretty fricking mediocre. He's decent going forward, but his final ball needs work, he's a bombscare defensively, and is made of glass.

Celtic's best right back is Mikael Lustig. Behind him are Efe Ambrose (bad in Europe, fine domestically), now-gone Adam Matthews, and Darnell Fisher.

We've upgraded backup right backs by offloading Matthews and getting Janko in free.

Wut?

Some other Celtic fans' opinions:

quote:

Just to put this into perspective, we're getting £2 million for a player most people wouldn't have put ahead of Efe effing Ambrose at the end of last season.

Okay, it's a pittance compared to the Mackem bastards' total budget, but I think he'll end up fading into Danny Fox levels of obscurity and quiz questions.

A good footballer and a good guy that seemed to forget how to do the footballing bit after an injury.

quote:

That San Siro performance was infuriating. Absolutely no final ball at all. Heid doon and run either till the balls out for a goal kick or to put in a rotten ball at the by line.

quote:

Shame he stalled so much because he should have been much better. Looks like we're doing well here getting Janko in and £2 million for Matthews.

quote:

I thought he was going to be a cracker but constant injuries set him back. A move is probably a good move and he goes with my best wishes.

quote:

Nice lad but just not good enough imo

quote:

Didnt progress as expected, mainly due to injuries. Last season he was goin through the motions

quote:

Never recovered from his injuries to get back to the level he was at. Looks timid and has lost his explosive pace

quote:

He isn't even our first choice RB - nowhere close to Lustig and we have just signed another right sided defender who likes to get forward.

Adam looked great overlapping in his early performances but is generally poor defensively and truly woeful against players stepping in off the wing against him.

I think we will survive.

And there are many, many more.

ETA:

quote:

Didn't realize backups got 150 appearances in 4 seasons

1/4 or more of those are him filling in at leftback for Izzy (he was good v Barca, but never again) or filling in at right wing (ok every once in a while). Another 1/4 (or more) would be substitutions.

Seriously, he's not very good and I'm ecstatic that your moronic club paid us for him.

Frozen in 2012 guy would be shocked to wake up to Balotelli, Shaquiri an Mr Bojangles all in Stoke City's attack.

Stoke need to project a demo video explaining that the other guys in matching shirts are team mates onto the gym wall where Shaqiri pumps himself up, or whatever he does in between dribbling with his head down.

Truth... but I'm still worried about Everton... especially if Coleman goes to Newton Heath.

BTW... how are you feeling about Chris Wood?

I am excited, but I don't know how excited I am for 3 Mil... at the same time, goalscorers cost money (especially proven ones).

I heard we might be moving Sharp to the Blades in a partial trade for Jamie Murphy Scot U21 Winger... would be a solid get as we still have yet to bring in pace out wide.

Wood should do well in a 4-3-3. A great sign cellino is spending that kind of cash on proven players.

I really want moore from leicester. Bellusci can go.

Bianchi was one of our best passers but i dont think he really fits roslers style

Hopefully luke murphy keeps his end of season form. We should look at the free agent market too.. guys like chris maguire and ross wallace.

Supposedly have a couple man city wingers on trial.

I dont want sharp to go but getting murphy would be nice.
