What? When did this happen?

We're in danger of missing a World Cup because of Jurgen... not Bruce.
That would be true if we got more than 1 point out of the last 2 games.

Also, both are apparently incompetent at playing players where they are best.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. When Jurgen did this Broski would be screaming at the top of his lungs that Jurgen wasn't setting the players up for success within the given formation. Now that Arena is doing some of the same things....its still Jurgen fault.

It's almost comical.

Maybe it's the talent level in the player pool. I think a lot of people are starting to realize that's the real problem we are facing.

Is it awfully coincidental that the return of many of the top American players to play in MLS directly coincides with this terrible Hex?

I could be wrong, but I can't recall a game where we struggled to get a shot on target. We struggled to do so in our last match.

Under Jurgen we didn't even do that against Portugal, Belgium, Ghana, etc....Maybe Germany. (just listing some stronger opponents in which it may have happened)

The only thing I liked that Jurgen did compared to Bruce at this point is that Jurgen at least tried to play attractively and it worked more often than it failed.

Some revisionist history all up in this mother

Dude, how many drugs or alcohols did you consume before you watched the USMNT play under Jurgen?

Are you suggesting one would have to consume less to watch this team under Arena?

It's easy to point at the manager...a little harder to accept that we don't have a very good player pool during this cycle. We are kind of in between "generations" I think.

Jurgen tied the best ever American HEX qualifying campaign leading up to the 2014 world cup.

We also barely got into the hex that go around.

I stand corrected lol.

That's just how I feel. But I'm probably processing it just because of how horrible our last two matches have been.

2002 was a little dicey in that department as well.

Has absolutely nothing to do with 2016... Same with Bruce's 2002 run having nothing to do with how shitty 2006 was.

It's more indicative of talent issues during those cycles IMO.

That's the only point I have tried to make. Our pool sucks right now...that's why we suck this cycle.

Focusing and placing the majority of the blame on the manager is silly IMO.

I agree with you. I'm not saying we should have not fired Jurgen. It was his time to go. He lost the team for what ever reason. The players wanted it clearly. These same core of players answered US Soccers hiring of a new manager by laying some more fricking eggs after they got their manager change.

Maybe US Soccer fans need to start calling out the established core of this cycle instead of playing the Manager blame game.
