I wish this game was less intense. I'm talking no tracking back or closing down attackers.

I was eating while they interviewed Waka Flocka Flame. Did one of them ask if No Hands was a soccer song?

Travel is probably the best answer.

Fly to Atlanta on Monday, fly to LA on Wednesday/Thursday. Fly to Colorado for the game this weekend.

What an utter shitshow waste of time, they need to just go back to East vs West.

It’s been rumored for a while that next year’s All-Star game will be against Liga MX All-Stars. That would be fun. We might eventually see the league go back to the East vs. West format, but probably not for a while. Don Garber has repeatedly emphasized how important the All-Star game is for growing the league’s international appeal for both fans and players.

All in all, it was a fun exhibition. This All-Star team would wipe the floor with teams from previous seasons when I first followed the league, and that’s without Zlatan and David Villa available. It’s really remarkable how fast the league is improving.

All Star games are always gimmicky and the chance to see some big European stars isn't such a bad idea.

That said, if they're going to stick with this format, may be better to get a slightly lower profile European club for the next World Cup summer so it won't be mainly 18yo players Juve has on loan in Serie C and the Belgian 2nd division.

Maybe this is a dumb and anecdotal take but I think it’s important to do the ASG as MLS stars vs [big name opponent]. I’ve watched USMNT since the 2010 World Cup and Liverpool since 2011, I started wathing the CL and random big games for other teams and leagues since around then too. I never watched a solitary MLS game of any kind till the 2012 ASG vs Chelsea, my next one was the 2014 ASG vs Bayern. Since 2014 I’ve watched a lot of MLS playoff games and the ASG plus some random national broadcasts. I think there are a lot soccer fans in America that don’t watch MLS that need games like tonight’s to at least have the chance to be pulled in.

It has more appeal than you might think. It’s a unique experience for the players and a big event for the league to attract attention and corporate sponsorship.

Schweinsteiger specifically mentioned his experience playing in the 2014 All-Star game as one of the big things that drew him to MLS to play for the Fire.
