They've been calling goals off for much less than that even in the buildup to goals in the UCL and EPL for the past two years so it would have been very surprising to see that stand.

He pulled it away, but his hand definitely helped control the ball. I thought it was the right call.

While completely true, like the commentators said, letter of the law it's the correct call.
As a neutral fan this is pretty darn entertaining. Maybe Madrid will actually press and try to score now that they were given a lifeline.
