Probably so. If you listen closely, you'll hear the substitution announcements in English followed by a loud, booming masculine voice in Russian. In the Olympics, announcements are made in English & French (the 2 official languages of the IOC) and then the local language if it isn't English or French.

My hope is that Fox figured nobody gives a shite about the Confed Cup. The only people that will care are Mexicans in the USA. So, might as well get a Hispanic announcer to do their games. The World Cup will be another story. My only worry is they keep this guy to do every Spanish speaking country next season.

Have to admire Mexico's consistency in FIFA tournaments. They pretty much always make the knockout rounds, then get stomped in the first game.

You're giving them way to much credit I'm afraid. A decision like that would require foresight. Surely there are some good Mexican/Hispanic play by play guys they could have got. I've never heard one, but there's gotta be one somewhere. Jesus, do they all have to do the outdated corny arse gooooaaallll thing for EVERY GOAL?
