FIFA announced that Europe and Asia will not be able to bid for the 2026 WC. Looks like it may be coming to the USA, boys!

Not if the Clintons have anything to say about it. I'm sure there is a corrupt African nation that will bribe them enough to get it.

I refuse to get my hopes up. I could see Canada getting it.

No way in h3ll, unless they want to host it in the northwest centering around Seattle and Vancouver.

I could see it being all along the border. Seattle, Vancouver, Ottawa, New York, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Toronto, Detroit, Montreal, DC, Chicago, Calgary, Edmonton, Quebec City, Boston, etc.

You know it will be a joint US/Canada bid. I'm okay with it.

It's not a long flight from most of those cities. I imagine they would have games in both capitols.

DC is only close to NYC of all those cities and its still a 4 hour drive or hour flight. The rest not so much.

It will probably be Australia for 2026, which isn't bad if it can't be in the states. Countries will bitch and do what ever they can to stop us from hosting 2 WC in the span of 32 years.

Well technically the Aussie are Asia but a joint big with NZ would be a good way to get around it.

Yeah that's what I meant. There's no other way for Oceania to host so I think it's possible.

If this happens it will be the least attended WC in history.

They are way too far for most folks to reasonably travel and Australia and New Zealand have some of the strictest visa policies in the free world, they are not about to just open their borders.

Not familiar with Canada's capitol building, but I doubt that there are any rooms in our capitol big enough to accommodate a soccer field.

I'm almost positive I remember hearing that FIFA will not allow joint bids after 2002 korea/japan. Hope I remember that correctly, because I am counting on taking my children to some matches in order to experience what I was blessed with in 94'. Been to many different sporting events and going to the World Cup games in Orlando as a 14 year old was the highlight of my youth. What an incredible summer. And after getting screwed with the 2022 bid I'm not sure I could stomach another disappointment. That being said, it'll probably end up in Australia. My son's will be 17 and 12 in 2026 so that will be the ideal time frame.
