Also, what the hell ever happened to former USMNT and soccer board savior Andy Najar?

He's with Anderlecht. Had a fairly serious injury against Paraguay in the lead up to the Gold Cup.

And apparently he's a defender now.

Honduras golazo to go up 1-0.

Right now, Jamaica would win the group and Curacao would advance. If El Salvador draw, they advance along with Jamaica.

ETA: Honduras scored again, El Salvador may start throwing punches now.

ETA2: Oh shite, El Salvador is still in this, because of the goals scored tiebreaker, so had they lost 1-0, they don't advance, but they will advance if they score and lose 2-1.

ETA3: Welp so much for that... Honduras scored a 3rd in the 75th minute... now El Salvador may just start fighting.

El Salvador played so well the first two games. Had a great chance to win the group.

Instead they’re having a complete meltdown against their biggest rivals.

El Salvador were so dirty the last time we played them. I’d much rather play Curaçao.

We would have to lose today to get Jamaica in SF right?

Correct. A draw and the US wins the group on goal differential and plays Curacao.

Nah, if we lose today, then we'd get Jamaica in the quarterfinal.

If we win, we play Curacao in the quarters and Jamaica would play Panama. Then we'd get Jamaica in the semis if we both win.

Right.

Win today and path is:
QF - Curaçao
SF - Jamaica likely (or Panama)
F - Mexico likely (or Costa Rica, Canada or Haiti)

Panama tonight, and Panama again should we get to the semis. Small confederation.

Small confederation.

Actually a fairly big confederation, just a poor job planning the tournament. Caring more about ticket sales than anything.

A small confederation in terms of real teams. Easily the second worst in the world behind Oceania. It’s a fricking joke that we have two GC’s and nations league in the cycle with these same piddling teams.

With no Confed Cup we have to at least get something consistent once every four years with South America. Either the two federations join or the US and Mexico permanently join Copa or something.

I don't know... AFC is pretty shitty.

I think South Korea, Japan, Australia, Iran are better than US, Mexico, Costa Rica, and....Panama?

Idk, you’re right it’s closer than I gave it credit for.

A couple of fun quarterfinal matchups tonight.

Canada v. Haiti at 6pm, and then Mexico v. Costa Rica at 9pm.
