Penalty kicks suck

Golden goal was better if you ask me

This match the players played 135 minutes. I mean they can't go much further.

Let me guess... offside rule needs to change also?

Plenty of issues with golden goal as well and I think having a hard stopping point for tournament settings is necessary.

Like what? If penalties were not an option teams wouldn't be able to play for them and would actually have to attack. Thus, they would either score or open themselves up to being scored upon.
Golden goal is such a simple solution so of course it will never happen.

I like the old NASL penalties which are more like NHL penalties

Are you aware that golden goal also ended in penalties after 30 mins

Except when it did happen and was so awful they replaced it?

It's never been tried without the crutch of penalties which is what I'm advocating for.

There is. It’s called winning in regular time

In OT, pull one player off the pitch from each side every 5 minutes until a goal is scored.

Not sure it would always work out that way.
And why would it be better Brazil advanced over Croatia? With golden goal they would have gone through.

Hockey has free subs. This is the first time you’ve had more than 3 subs at a World Cup.

It's not a matter of one game and who would have advanced, it's a matter of what would create a more entertaining product in extra time along with a more fair result based on actual soccer ability, tactics, effort etc... rather than the penalty lottery. Particularly when one team is only playing for penalties which is usually the case. Sometimes both.

While I'm not sure its better, I would love to see ( just from a strategy stand point) a golden goal where you remove 1 player from each team every 10 minutes.
PKs have their benefits and drawbacks. One way I hate them is that the team with less talent clearly plays for them at a certain point.
