Why the F is anyone paying those kind of prices?

True story bro. I’m trying to find a way. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Damn, they were much cheaper before.
Even tickets that are supposed to be in the $60 range are going for $900.

I would think the ridiculous pricing is making them do the exact opposite, 99% of tickets will not go for face value before the game I suspect.

I worry that they will go for either face value or right below face value on the secondary market, which means that most crappy tickets are still $250-450 for random games, even with a big drop off.
I agree that the secondary market prices won’t hold.
But it’s also likely that flights are going to be quite a bit pricier so the only people who can benefit from the drop in prices are locals.

By the way, a different friend just told me she got tickets in the Olympics pre-sale for LA 2028.
She got a set of tickets for a night of Olympic swimming, with 5 gold medal events, including the men’s 50 meter freestyle. So that’s one of 15 marquee nights.
It was $186 per person.
And for a more niche event, synchronized swimming, a friend of hers got tickets for $100.
So it’s clear that the IOC isn’t nearly up to FIFA’s level.

Was she part of the local presale for LA? I thought the first draw for everyone outside LA/OKC starts the 7th? I may need to check my email lol.
Nevermind it started the 31st and notifications end the 7th. Well damn hopefully I'll hear something soon.

She was part of the LA pre-sale but not living in LA.
Were there attempts at keeping the applicants only in the broader LA area and OKC?

Yeah there was a local only presale draw that went first. You had to have address in the areas to participate. My buddy in okc entered for me for that one as well but he never heard anything.
I live in Fayetteville, AR now so I was hoping to score the water and softball tickets since okc is a few hours away and I have a place to crash there, but I also entered for several LA events too.

I think ticket prices have gone up since the weekend. It’s pretty much out of hand. 2D would play in Dallas on 7/3 so I’ve been keeping an eye on it. Was down to about $550 a few weeks ago back up to $800

FIFA pulling the switching all CAT1 to the corners, behind the goal or even the second level is wild.
Then saved the sideline seats that were supposed to be CAT1 and calling them last min front row and charging $1000+ per ticket
Also the Boston train price hikes
frick this tournament

I don't think I've seen worse handling of ticket sales. Basically no one is buying the suite tickets or tickets to the crappy matches at the prices they're selling them. Now they have a glut of tickets no one wants at prices no one will pay.

I hope this tournament is a complete fricking disaster, from ticket sales, to half empty stadiums, to travel, to logistics, to teams and players not being allowed into the country. I’m rooting for complete and utter chaos.

I think this is guaranteed at this point.

Imagine having the balls to charge $400 a ticket for Algeria vs fricking Jordan and then scratching your head on why there are still plenty left.
Same with the ridiculous hospitality packages.

I went and looked at the prices myself and literally the worst seat of the worst games starts at $400, most games involving one decent team is $800 to $2,000 per ticket for group stage games. USA-Paraguay tickets in LA were up to like $2,000-$4,000 a piece.
I signed up for several of the lotteries and the tickets options were nowhere near that expensive. I guess it makes sense why I didn't win any lottery tickets. They released a small number at the cheaper price points and held the rest back and jacked up the prices for the last minute ticket sales.

Marriott Bonvoy just notified me of packages that include tickets you can buy with points. It looks like it was announced in January.

Yeah, not exactly a compelling matchup.

USSF essentially lied in their bid to host the WC
Ticket prices is part of the bid
In Europe countries this isn’t allowed because of what is essentially fan protection. That’s why EPL matches are not insanely priced
It’s also why the EUROs are so cheap to attend.

In 2022 I went to the West Ham v. Wolves match in London.
Middle of the pitch, about 30 rows up cost me about £75. As I sat there, I couldn’t help but think that if I was at an NFL game, my seat would have cost $500.
