Who would the world soccer experts say are our best 11 regardless of position?

GK: Steffen
RB: Yedlin, but Dest is going to push him in 2019
CB: Miazga and Brooks
LB: We're in some frick territory again, Robinson has the most upside but he's still raw
6: Adams
8: McKennie
10, RW, LW: Pulisic
Striker: It's still Jozy

ETA: as for our best 10, RW, LW not named Pulisic

10: Nagbe I guess... I hope Mendez can make a huge jump in 2019 though with Freiburg
RW: Arriola?
LW: Weah?

We have a lot of young attacking talent that should be graduating from the youth ranks over the next two years, we need at least 4 of those to pan out as XI quality players and at least one of them to become a bona fide USMNT star.

American Soccer Now lists the top 11 as Pulisic, Brooks, McKennie, Yedlin, Miazga, Steffen, Johnson, Adams, Ream, Wood, Altodore.

Ream isn’t a bad shout at left back but I prefer Lichaj or Robinson honestly. I also like Parks but he’s not getting any playing time. Same can be said for Weah so I’m not sure why you would start him over Wood or Jozy.

Like Lichaj. Antonee needs more run as he was diced up against Brazil. Granted it was Neymar and Douglas Costa running at him.

I’ve always been an Jozy fan. Does things you don’t see on the stat sheet. Similar to how I am a Beckerman fan. The crab of American football. Moves sideways and backwards only.

So you want a midfield with just 8's and 6's?

I want a midfield that’s technically sound enough to keep the ball. Parks is also an aerial threat to win set pieces.

I also hate the phrase "I don't rate..." Who came up with that? You rate them, you just rate them poorly. A bad rating is still a rating.

You’re correct. I think the phrase has taken on a different meaning that most currently understand.

Be careful voicing this opinion here

That said I’m pretty sure you’re the only person on this board with national team level coaching experience so I respect what you say.

What good is that if it doesn't connect to the attacking third?

He runs channels and holds the ball. Not many we could have played there besides him. Should he have scored more for the USMNT? Yes.

I also don’t want to go down the hole of other players being better than him and USMNT should have done more. We’re not very good right now. Tactically, technically, slow decision making. Not much creativity and movement after the third pass. We’re a very hard working group because we’re not a very skilled group.

Still, PULIGOAT 2022 Balon d’Or. #back2backWCchamps

That’s the coaching bit there, isn’t it?

All our eggs should be in this basket.

To a certain extent sure, but if you are rocking a 3-man midfield, you need at least one of them to be in an advanced position and not afraid to take someone on 1v1.

I think Adams can do that via dribble penetration. Plus Weah and PULIGOAT can come inside and do that as well while our fullbacks bomb forward.

Yet you "don't rate" Nagbe?

Correct. He’s too inconsistent and doesn’t win enough tackles defensively.

He's consistently our best CM with the ball at his feet. The only time when he's inconsistent is when teams try to play him on the wing or something.

That’s everyone’s job in the midfield unless you’re in the free role that very few players have the skill set to do.

I said CM. Pulisic has played on the wing for us more often than not.
