Amazing coincidence that the Premier League, which is lobbying against an independent regulator of football, charges Manchester City for breach of financial rules 24 hours before the government releases the white paper on football governance reform.

The punishments should be more moving forward in terms of possible relegation/fines
Doesn't make sense if they're not breaking the rules now, for extreme things like relegation.
Fines? Sure.

I'd be okay with a point deduction on the current season.

The investigation started four years ago, which is why it only goes up to 2018. I'm not sure they could release any information regarding whether City are currently breaking rules this season, even if they wanted to.

Me too. They ain’t catching Arsenal. Kind of like a 6-6 or 5-7 football team self imposing a one year post-season ban.

it'll be settled with just a fine. This is borderline none news.

Ya no chance, Arsenal is like way too far up there, and they refuse to drop any points. Some are saying they may be the best PL side ever.

One of the charges is for improper grass height. Another charge is for tapping a youngster who we already dealt with previously. Ridiculous charges and an attempt to hurt a team who has only helped the competitiveness of the league as a whole.

City have been champions 4 out of the last 5 seasons.

no shite. That's why "They ain’t catching Arsenal" is a ridiculous comment.

Pep putting together a normal 11 is what will help me sleep at night. not this bs that happens to us every year with other leagues

You know damn well if they play with the same form they have the last 6 weeks they could very well finish third or fourth, much less catching up to Arsenal—who also have a game in hand.
To clarify, the team in its present funk and form ain’t catching Arsenal.
