Damn.
So many gamecocks are soccer fans
Didn’t realize we were that cool(or gay) of a fanbase

I remember thinking Antonio was Portuguese for like 3 years after I first saw him playing as a wingback for Wednesday.

Antonio is in fire to start this season

I think he’s waiting for his passport or something

Definitely new to it.
I’ve kind of sort of kept up with the EPL and US soccer for years but I could never really get invested in the EPL without following any specific team.
I didn’t want to follow one of the big powerhouses because for some reason that seemed disingenuous to me.
So, I thought to myself, I love Iron Maiden, Steve Harris is a big West Ham guy, so I’ll go with them and I’ve enjoyed it a lot more since. With their schedule they’ve got a legit shot at getting around 16 points out of their first 7 games.

Hell, I didn't need the EPL to enjoy that.

Yea but it’s more of a justification to think you’re less of an alcoholic if it’s with other people and you’re watching a game

I used to do it a lot.. went to Cock N' Bull on Rosewood to watch Arsenal with the Columbia Gunners. Just became too much, felt like I was drinking all the time. Now I pick and choose my moments.

West Ham is a solid choice.. though I wouldn't be happy with London Stadium if I was a fan of theirs... miss the old Boleyn Ground. Seats are just too far away in their new stadium.

I think it's because we are a cultured lot. Generally soccer fans are just smarter people.. so I think it says a lot about our fanbase to be perfectly honest.

Cock lovers + soccer just makes good logical sense

...what if I'm drinking and watching the other game but not with other people?

Yeah, it's been really interesting reading up on their history. I swear it kind of mirrors ours. Lots of agony followed with just enough spurts of random successes to make it feel like there just might, kind of, sort be a chance to do something each year.
As for the stadium, I also get that too. A smaller, more intimate, historic park, swapped out for a new semi-generic stadium that wasn't even built for the sport. I hate to say it, but the move did make sense for West Ham to raise its value. More seats, more sponsorships, more easily accessible for people just in London that may want to check out a game. Plus, having a newer venue that makes more money theoretically it easier to attract talent as well.
It's not quite the same but to bring it back to South Carolina I think of it in the same way as Sarge Frye. I had some friends that hated seeing it go and I remember one in particular saying "You can't buy tradition." Two national championships soon after the new park was built certainly ended that talk.
I guess the point is, if they keep doing well the West Ham fans will learn to love the new venue as well. Plus, from what I understand they basically got a ridiculously good deal for it. It's a shame the fans couldn't go to any games last year since it was their best season in many years.

It’s a game, still allowed
