I like that intimate feel
30k capacity?

10k/match actual attendance by year 3. Won't be very intimate.

And what about the big markets that are not doing so hot.....

At some point the league will be entirely too big

Unless we got to MLS and MLS II which most of us want but owners are not paying $200 million to be in a second division

Or MLS turns into an east and west that basically never play each other

MLS isn’t going to cut teams or move them anymore after the shite storm that just happened

If the league youth academies produced enough talent to make the league really good then it’s a great strategy

Problem is youth development is awful in this country and ideally MLS turns into a launch pad league for young American players like the ones in South America are.

The new markets are useless with out big money tv deals

I was impressed with the Dynamo stadium the other night. Attendance wasn’t good but if the product was better I think people would show. The area is trying to be reclaimed and I bet it looks like a different place in a few years- old warehouse area already turning into condos and such.

They struggle with attendance even when the team is decent

The ownership group pretty much doesn’t care

Houston should always be a well attended venue, but that ownership is toxic. Fans want nothing to do with it. It’s a travesty.

Sure as hell will be something we won't have for the two seasons at Nissan Stadium.

Not sure the demographics of Nashville vs Atlanta. But Nashville might be able to support that size of a Stadium. After all Atlanta is supporting a big stadium. Would love for Nashville to thrive.

The quality of MLS in both atmosphere and team quality is unrecognizable from 10 years ago and it is making Europe fans melt.

MLS needs a schedule to where you play everyone in your conference twice and everyone else once. Once MLS gets too big for that, that's when they need to cap it.

And I think a Promo/Releg with USL would be a good way to go.

I honestly don't think there is a reason for MLS to have expanded anymore than it has rn because I don't think any new market would help them rn.

MLS really needs to focus on their current teams quality and not so many expansion teams otherwise the quality is losing. We all know the teams that have been struggling.

For perspective, the Sounds pull 4th most of any triple A team per game at 8,700.

If they can make it a fun drinking atmosphere around the stadium with bars and the team is good, people will get onboard.

Just look at the Preds and the Stanley cup a couple of years ago.

It will be a big time destination for all the tourists during the summer. 30k might be a reach but they could easily average 15-20k I would think.

I think if the team can do what the Preds have done things will be fine. Actually it may not be a bad idea to hire some of the marketing folks from the Preds.

I am the president of The Assembly, one of the RSGs for the team. We are the only SG to do tailgates at First Tennessee Park and we had our best tailgate ever at the game at Nissan Stadium recently. We actually picked up a beer sponsor and get free beer for every tailgate.

Have you ever been to the Gulch prior to a match in Atlanta? It’s a pretty good tailgate scene. As a Nashville SG prez, if you can get the club, Nissan as well as fairgrounds (new stadium) authorities, police, etc to sanction something similar, it could create an exciting environment.

I haven't got a chance to go to a game at Atlanta yet. I know people that have went to tailgates there and have had a pretty good time. I think we will try to create an atmosphere like that here as well.

If I were you, I’d just go check it out on game day just to get some ideas. Perhaps meet with SG leaderships. I’m all for MLS teams to have awesome environments.

Huntsville just proposed renovating Joe Davis stadium into a multi-use facility. Professional soccer was one of the proposed uses. I think the renovations would lead to about 7k seats.

Well shite, didn't see the new thread.

Just posted an article about that. Huntsville would be perfect for USL 1.
