Agreed. I dunno how you even turn off competitive fire. I never did as a kid despite mopping the floor with teams in soccer.

And yup. Insult to just basically play keep away.

I do think that something has to be done with qualifications for all World cups

It should be the best 24 teams

And for the men’s the best 32

Meh the Dream Team didn’t stop celebrating dunks over Angola up by 70. I don’t see an issue here.

Although if we lose you can bet the other team will celebrate their butts off and rub it in.

I can’t stand the women’s national team, all they do is complain and politicize everything. If they want equality play against men

I don't mind at all that they destroyed some shite team. Good for them. No apologies needed.

What is annoying are the imbeciles who use this as more ammo for the off the field USWNT arguments. Primarily that they're superior to the men, a claim that will be made over and over and if anyone brings up that a decent high school boys team would push the USWNT, you're obviously a sexist.

It sucks we live in an age where nothing can be enjoyed for what it is. The USWNT being good at women's soccer isn't enough, it has to be used to wage some culture war.

You can't have it both ways. You can't enjoy it for what it is while saying in the previous paragraph they couldn't beat a boys team. Of course they won't, but why even compare or use as an argument?

I think you could get almost any u-10 boys club team together in the US and they would beat that Thai team.

FIFY

If a u-15 club team can beat the US women’s team, I’m sure a younger group would dismantle Thailand’s women’s team with ease.

If our teams got beat 0-13, I wouldn’t be embarrassed. I’d be pissed and hope someone used it as motivation to get their shite together to put a better team on the pitch.

I'm not waltzing in here to shite on the team in a vacuum, dude.

If we're honest, we'll admit that there were a handful of guys who couldn't enjoy the USWNT being good and would talk shite regardless. But that isn't the norm and certainly doesn't describe me. The huge majority of the comparisons to men are in response to the ridiculous and divisive claims about pay or centered on putting down the men's team. I genuinely think most men are perfectly willing and happy to celebrate women's sports successes. It's when a Williams sister is called "the greatest athlete of all time" or pay gap bitching overshadows the game itself that these rebuttals come out.

And let's be clear, the competitive differences pointed out are almost always truthful, while much of the pay gap and similar allegations are, at best, partially dishonest.

Could point differential come into play as a tie breaker down the road?

Yes
Goal differential is a tiebreaker in group play

Ya theres def a few here. And I agree with what you're saying for the most part. It just gets nauseating when they immediately go to "they cant beat u15 boys" as a reason they shouldn't be compensated more or have better playing conditions.

Could the USWNT do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke?

It’s just a supporting talking point to help understand why people don’t care as much about the women’s team. If you’d actually understand the situation you’d know that athletes are paid what they are worth. That is tied to revenue. Women don’t bring in anything close to as much revenue as the men. Still, the women take home a higher % of that revenue than the men do. There is really no argument to be made on unfair pay. They don’t have the same jobs. They are paid based on their worth.

Oh I do, and I have no problem with their current pay as it is, especially since that's what they voted themselves for. I do however see their grip around resources and support while wearing the crest. Take the Hawaii incident for example.

How much do the Senior Men’s players make just from their USSF salary?
Like is their some kind of salary associated with it?
Or is it just a bonus per cap?

There are legit high school and college men's teams that could demolish the uswnt. It is simply a statement of fact. And if usmnt played uswnt, the result would be along the lines of what you saw in the field today, in favor of the men.

This is no different than all the media gushing over that record win-streak uconn women's basketball team from a few years back... when in reality that team would get routinely shite-housed by amateur dudes playing pickup games in the practice gym.

uswnt is no different. Women's sports will always contain inferior athletes to biological male athletes. Science doesn't lie.

I hope uswnt wins it all, but dont act like this is remotely similar to the real World Cup

Of course it’s not.
But we are actually good at this.

And as a fan of MANY losers (Gamecocks, Panthers, Hornets, Braves, Hurricanes, USMNT), it’s good to have a team finally win
