All I know is I saw the Mexican guy get taken down much more harshly in the box in the first half and the referee kept his whistle in his mouth and it decided the game on the biggest stage in the sport.

I saw a Dutch guy clearly get taken down in the box in the first half also, with the referee staying quiet. What's your point?

The same guy that said it shouldn't be a penalty because Rafa was going for the ball.

Are you talking about the "high kick" because the Mexican player lowerd his head into it.

seeing games ruined by stupid BS penalty calls.

"After further review, the call on the pitch stands. Penalty kick to the Netherlands."

Inconclusive evidence to overturn the decision. Happy now?

Yet one ESPN analyst, Rudd Van Nistelrooy, said it was a penalty. And when are we considering what ESPN says to be true? Yeah, I'm sure they are the never get anything wrong

My point is if it's a penalty at the very end of the game why isn't it a penalty during the rest of the game?

If that was the "right call" then the rule needs to be changed in my opinion. That flop was pathetic and shouldn't be rewarded with a gift wrapped win IMO.

Agreed. The ref missed the others, but even if every single other call that was missed is called the Dutch win 3-2.

It was a right call because he stepped on his foot. I would have been OK with Robben getting a yellow for embellishing as well.

It's not a flop if your foot gets stepped on. Did he embellish? Yes. But still a foul either way.

That wasn't a flop. It was a reckless challenge by the defender.

Robben made a fantastic play, controlled the ball into space, and then was tripped by the defender. There's no "gift".

Great play by Robben. I hate to see the Dutch advance, but that comeback was really impressive.

I may be a soccer newb, and I am enjoying this tourney, but let's call a spade a spade. That was a flop and there really shouldn't be anyone arguing the contrary.

Absolutely no. A thousand times, no. NO!

Do you need an explanation?
