My biggest disappointment is not seeing Nagbe and Pulisic get more playing time. And Jurgen completely fricking up the tactics and personnel against Argentina.

Eta: under his tutelage we have failed to qualify for two olympics tournaments in a row and the confederations cup.

Pulisic legit seems to be the only guy on the team that's able to operate in tight windows & congested spaces with quick feet up front. Everyone else seems to trip over themselves in panic. Bobby wood is pretty good too I suppose.

Jurgen is stale. Everyone knows it. It was dumb to extend him to 2018 in this capacity.

Back when I first joined this forum people had better discussions here. Now people downvote and then provide no reasoning for their dissent. It's frustrating and defeats the purpose of a message board. Posts like TL DR above were met with "take that shite back to the OT." We did a better job of calling people out for stupid shite like that and kept discussion quality high.

Eta: downvote me. Please. And then don't give a reason. Welcome to the new SB.

Why does gulati not get any pressure, or does he? I'd like to see both of them pushed out.

The consistency during this tournament really helped the team, even if they still seemed lost tactically.

I just don't know with this team, for every step forward we take with Jurgen, I feel like we've taken 3 steps back.

He's one of the few Americans to ever have pull in the international soccer world. He's the ninth most senior member on the FIFA executive committee. I think we won't know if this hire was worth it until ten to fifteen years down the line, to see what he accomplished with regards to our youth development as technical director.

You should listen to Jimmy Conrad's segment on the most recent Howler Radio podcast. That's all I'll say about that.

Juergen is a fricking tool, and will never lead us to where we need to be. His players hate his guts, whether they will admit it verbally or not, and they certainly don't respect the egomaniac. frick him, he should've been fired the same night fricking Guatamala beat us.

I wish I knew what the answer was because I would make millions and bring the USA to the promised land, but from a fan perspective I have a really bad feeling in my gut when I think about the future. I see great potential with the younger kids, but I also know how fine the line is between reaching your potential and falling short. There's so many variables that it's really difficult and frustrating to try to focus on THE problem. What is THE problem?

Listen to the total soccer show podcast recap of the Argentina game. They tear into Jurgen about the tactics. Always love Conrad so I will give it a listen

The problem is that we need players who are better technically. Its likely too late for the current players to become better, so we wait for their replacements. In the meantime, we go about building better players through our youth system.

Of course, our youth system is a complex web of issues on its own
