USA Soccer rankings questions

Just browsing/surfing the interwebz and saw that USMNT is ranked 20th in the latest rankings..
1. Is that where USMNT is regularly ranked?
2. Being behind Wales? Is this a new thing?
3. Wasn't JK supposed to remold US Soccer at all levels and is this the product of this?
4. Since US is a solid 2 behind Mexico and ahead of Jamaica, would no qualification for the next WC be generation loss?

Range anywhere from 15-24 since we were randomly #4 in the 2006 World Cup

No idea

Corrupt FIFA rankings aren't a good judge of this. Our youth levels are deeper than they have ever been. Not sure how much of a hand Jurgen actually had in that though.

It would be an utter failure if this talent doesn't qualify for the World Cup, especially with Costa Rica and Panama taking a huge step back this cycle.
Would be even more disastrous considering what happened last cycle.

I will give him credit for saying that the big name players needed to go to europe. Seems like now they are figuring that out instead getting a dog or some shite.

quote:Roughly. Depending on the year/era. We've been as high as inside the top 5 within the last 20 years, but we've also been as low as ~35. FIFA also redid their ranking system within the last few years, so it's hard to really compare.
1. Is that where USMNT is regularly ranked?
quote:Relatively, I think. Wales was in the top 10 in 2015.
2. Being behind Wales? Is this a new thing?
quote:I don't know how much he actually did. Many of our young, good players were already 10-13 when he first took over. I think it's just a product of our soccer culture, academies, etc. maturing a little bit. We had one of our worst generations since the early 80s followed buy one of our best.
3. Wasn't JK supposed to remold US Soccer at all levels and is this the product of this?
quote:I don't think I quite understand the question.
4. Since US is a solid 2 behind Mexico and ahead of Jamaica, would no qualification for the next WC be generation loss?

I mean, Juergen was fired so whatever he was supposed to do obviously didn’t pan out ?????

It would be the biggest failure in US soccer history. The US 2022 team will have 6 or more field players that would be able to lay claim to greatest US men’s soccer player of all time if their resume was transported back to 2018. This is a golden generation achieving levels of domestic success never seen before from us players.

This last generation has been the best ever for Wales. They’ve had great players in the past (Giggs, Speed, Ian Rush, Mark Hughes) but collectively this has been their best.
