It's a weird scenario, if we win tonight, we'd have a pretty brutal opening stretch in the Hex with Mexico at home and then on the road to Costa Rica (a place where we've never won a WCQ match).

Not saying I'm for or against any situation, but does booking accumulation start over after this stage of qualifying?

Wouldn't it better to guarantee that we likely face off with Mexico and Costa Rica at full strength and no one suspended?

I feel like we'd have a better chance than if we played them later and Jozy or whomever else was suspended later on.

But I guess if we play those two first then we also end the hex with CR and Mexico, right?

Australia drags Tim Cahill from the grave to the bench and naturally gets the goal to go up 1-0 at UAE

Would rather we win the group, because it would suck to have three games on the road right in the meat of the schedule.

Yeah, it's brutal to open up with Mexico and at CR, but if we get three points in those two games, then we're set up real nice to get at least 7 points in the next three before heading to the Azteca.

Personally I vote for the second option so we can wrap up top of the Hex when we beat that arse in the Azteca

Who is the Mexikunt downvoting every post in here?

Also, I think a midfield 3 of Nagbe (8) and Kljestan (10) with Bradley behind them as the 6 would be

If we go 4-3-3 though with those 3 in the midfield, where does that leave Bedoya?

On the bench or RW.

He's two good of a two-way player to not be on the field somewhere. Assuming we're talking about a 4-3-3 with Jozy in the middle and Wood and Pulisic on the attacking flanks, you need some cover on the wings from your midfield and that's not Nagbe or Kljestan's game.

I'm ok with Bedoya starting at RW or LW. He played wing for us at the WC and was solid there.

Nagbe is primarily a central attacking midfielder but he can also play on the right wing and has done so with Portland. However, Nagbe plays very little defense. Kljestan is an outstanding #10 central attacking midfielder and he also plays more defense than Nagbe. Kljetan is the more complete player. You could conceivably play them both.

My only issue with going to the 4-3-3 is that is pushes Wood further wide.

Nagbe has been played in the 8 role a lot for Portland. Porter is trying to make him a more complete midfielder. He is much more athletic (and quicker) than Kljestan but doesn't have the passing range. I appreciate his ability to get the ball out of tight spaces, which is nice when we are pressured in our own half. I think playing him in the T&T game in the 8 role would be good for him, but we all know he probably gets 15 meaningless mop up minutes at the end of the game.

I agree with this. I like him centrally, as he's most effective there.
